Just sat my first fully online Exam Tools based ham radio exam session as a Volunteer Examiner for GLAARG VEC. I've VEd for ARRL many times, but this was a whole different animal. Fun stuff!
OK, the big experiment has begun. A ham radio group has funded the scanning of 4,000 manuals from the Great Manuals Plus Haul. Now, the experiment is - will people kick on a special link in the blog entry to help fund the other 20 PALLETS of manuals?
Just got this teeny tiny #DMR#radio as a gift... I believe it's an Elida brand, but the box says "IP Radio"... I found the exact looking radio on AliExpress, but no download links.
It came with a programming #cable but no #software to program it with.
I've already tried EditCP and QDMR to no avail - they don't see this tiny adorable thing to read the existing codeplug, much less write a new one.
Anyone know where I can find the software for this thing? It's too cute to not use... and it was a gift, so I want to use it!
I wrote a message on eBay to the manufacturer requesting the software. They sent it to me.
I've got one contact programmed to it now, about to test transmit. If the folks on the #EastCoastReflector hear me, then I've got confirmed functionality.
Who said #hamradio people didn't care about good user experience?
In this highly scientific study based on the analysis of 1 /r/amateuradio subreddit post, 25% of all comments (post and comments included) said they did not use eQSL.cc due to it's bad user experience.
was looking at taking my technician ham test and was reading about the times for a virtual test and what not. ended up accidentally booking an exam in 1 hour. let's go!
Is there a Google Earth-equivalent open source software? Anyone? Maybe something that at least takes in open street map data and let's you put pins and stuff.
Needs to work offline, I'd like satellite image data but need topographic data.
Asking for #HamRadio reasons, I guess I could try tagging #gis
New blog post — I have a track coming out April 12! it's on a new album by the electroacoustic trio Apply Triangle with works by 33 composers, and it was recorded remotely during lockdown.
I talk about collecting amateur radio samples to use in the piece, the album project, and there's even a poem.
