They had to get to Golden Corral before the dinner rush.

I don't disagree with the premise, but who would it be? Kamala? I don't see it. Liz? The Senate is already going to be a mess, plus superdelegates. Bernie? Ditto. Gretchen? Could only see it if Biden totally stopped functioning. In my perfect world, they'd call Russ Feingold back up to the Majors, but since that didn't happen 20 years ago, it sounds like a much more remote possibility today.

I find it funny that heating the coffee for 99 makes it hotter than heating it for 100. Just waking up, that's mindboggling.

Haus ,

99=99 seconds, 100=1 minute. AFAIK that's universal?

My last game was exhausting. Years of cryptic lore, mediocre tie-in properties we pretended were good, pvp you could opt out of midstream by switching off your router, a sandbox that one player characterized as "as wide as the universe and one inch deep."

So, I thought I'd try something completely different, and that different thing, god help me, is Evony.

The one about a big city lawyer going to a small seaside town. Sea Change?

The one about a big city lawyer heart surgeon going to work in a small hospital in the outback. Heart-something?

The one about a big city lawyer going insane. Rake.

The one about a quirky Melbourne OB/GNY and her quirky family.

The one that had great promise, but was cancelled after one season. Oh, there are 100 of those.

Doctor Doctor (also known outside of Australasia as The Heart Guy) is an Australian television drama created by Tony McNamara, Ian Collie and Alan Harris, which premiered on the Nine Network on 14 September 2016, lasting five seasons, concluding on 23 June 2021. The cast includes Rodger Corser, Nicole da Silva, Ryan Johnson, Tina Bursill, Hayley McElhinney and Steve Bisley, and follows the story of Hugh Knight, a rising heart surgeon who is gifted, charming and infallible. He is a hedonist who, due to his sheer talent, believes he can live outside the rules. His "work hard, play harder" philosophy eventually comes to 'bite' him.

My Spanish is mediocre, but typically can get me from A to B without a lot of misunderstandings. I was driving back from the Mall in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and my very British GPS decided to route me via "Calle Ajore." Now everybody uses abbreviations for the word "street" - and in Spanish uses "C." For "Calle" just like English uses "St."

So, I'm battling traffic, and Lady Winifred Windsor the GPS advises me to "Turn right to see a whore."

Seeking: Kid-friendly Adventure/Exploration Games (PC)

My daughter (4) is very into exploring cities, homes and villages in Skyrim, feeding aliens in No Man's Sky, and cleaning houses in House Flipper. She gets annoyed in games like House Flipper because she can't leave the property to explore all of the visible houses on the block. I'd like to find other PC games that are...

As an American who has spent time in Oz, I can clarify. In Oz, what you call tomato sauce is what we call ketchup/catsup. In the US, tomato sauce is either the primary ingredient in things like spaghetti sauce, or it can be used to differentiate a red spaghetti sauce from something like an alfredo sauce.

Source: asked if I wanted tomato sauce at Macca's.

In 1995, 1/4 of Americans started to lose their minds because TV had girls kissing girls, black people, and Mexicans. 6 years later, something bad happened, another 8% of Americans lost their minds, and turned to White Prosperity Jesus, conspiracy theories, and ultra nationalism to salve their weary souls.

Then a black guy got elected president. This, combined with 20 years or growing income inequality drove another 8-10% berserk.

In response, they found the closest thing they could find to White Prosperity Jesus, Creepy Orange Prosperity Uncle, and banded behind him, in a quivering hope that he'd send all the funny looking colored and gay people someplace far away like Mexico, the capital of Africa or something, so that good uneducated people who work 20 hours a week could afford a 4-bedroom house and a Camaro, like it was when their grandpa was growing up.

Try to train a human comedian to make jokes without ever allowing him to hear another comedian's jokes, never watching a movie, never reading a book or magazine, never watching a TV show. I expect the jokes would be pretty weak.

I was trying to think of one. Lech Walesa came to mind, but it's doubtful. There was a Romanian president maybe 20 years ago that was a merchant ship officer, who often get f/l qualified (I did), but iirc, he flamed out.

Conservatives Have Lost the Culture War (washingtonmonthly.com)

Republican politicians like Ron DeSantis may rail against “woke” corporations. The reality is that when companies like Nike and Disney—no progressive angels themselves—seem to align with the left by promoting anti-racism and LGBTQ causes, they are catering to the tolerant demographic that matters most to the bottom line....

It's like they're swift-boating her.

The term swiftboating (also swift-boating or swift boating) is a pejorative American neologism used to describe an unfair or untrue political attack. The term is derived from the name of the organization "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" (SBVT, later the Swift Vets and POWs for Truth) because of their widely publicized—and later discredited—political smear campaign[1][2][3][4][5] against 2004 U.S. presidential candidate John Kerry.[6][1][7][8] Since the 2004 election, the term has come to commonly refer to a political attack that is dishonest, personal, and unfair.[9][10]

In (d/dx)f(x), d/dx is a symbol that means the derivative of f with respect to x. It's not a division of two variables. But, the reason the symbol is useful is that you sort of can multiply the dx in some situations.
