I can happen to you! You can be in your late 30s, never had an issue. Then one day, BAM! The dream was too vivid and you’ve pissed the bed. Your body will betray you some day.

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

Hahaha missed that. I’ll leave it to keep the menace levels elevated.

Good luck with your urinary tract!

Parrots are definitely capable of using human words and phrases in context. Stuff like “bye bye” when someone leaves a room, or “want some water?” when they see you drinking from a glass and want to have a taste. Attaching sounds to concepts and using them to communicate those concepts seems like basic language stuff to me!

Labs I’ve been in also have at least one inexplicable and kinda scary metal and asbestos monster from the 60s. Like this spinny boi:

They don’t give a shit about children, or birth. They think that women who have sex for fun deserve punishment, and that childbirth is just punishment for “immoral” sexual behavior.

Hilariously, republicans in this survey ranked Biden significantly higher than trump. Makes me think these might actually be well-informed people!

They could have just asked! I’ll happily piss in any cop car, free of charge.

A State Supreme Court Just Issued Another Devastating Rebuke of the U.S. Supreme Court (slate.com)

The Hawaii Supreme Court handed down a unanimous opinion on Wednesday declaring that its state constitution grants individuals absolutely no right to keep and bear arms outside the context of military service. Its decision rejected the U.S. Supreme Court’s interpretation of the Second Amendment, refusing to interpolate...

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

Do you need to explicitly include carve-outs or are those implicit? Don’t laws just get interpreted with the constitution in mind, without having to be completely thrown out? Genuinely asking!

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks, I think you answered with your last sentence. They could conceivably just make the part of the law that affects militia members invalid, and keep the rest. Or do they have to literally strike out clauses in the language of the law? If it’s worded too generally it would be impossible to do so without gutting it.

atomicorange ,

I think your great grandfather might have killed mine. I’m totally OK with this.

If we get even one criminal, it will have all been worth it.

Stray not from the path of righteousness, or the random arm of the law may crush you! Or not, you know, it’s unpredictable really.

After Abortion Ban, Texas Teen Birth Rate Rises (www.texasobserver.org)

A 15-year decline in Texas teen birth rates slid to a stop—and converted into a modest increase in 2022, the year after the state Legislature implemented what was the nation’s strongest ban on abortion, according to new report from the University of Houston’s Institute for Research on Women, Gender & Sexuality.

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

Do you think the abortion law might not have anything to do with the change in birth rate among Hispanic teens? I guess I’m not sure why breaking this out into racial demographics is adding anything to our understanding of the trend.

Examining why hispanic girls seem to be disproportionately affected by the law could be an interesting followon study.

You don’t exterminate mosquitoes because they are evil, you get rid of them because they are parasites, unable to exist without feeding on you and your loved ones. They are disease vectors, it’s us or them.

The royal family feeds into hierarchical structures. They benefit from our subjugation. They knowingly and intentionally contribute to death and misery worldwide for their own benefit. If Charles was a decent man he’d abdicate.

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

Here’s an article going into some of the crown’s crimes, which Charles has willingly benefitted from and continues to do so.

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

Can I do both?

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

Because they only care about protecting cop lives. If it reduces the chance of them being hit by a car 1%, but increases the chance of a blinded driver causing an accident that hurts someone else by 50%, that’s a tradeoff they’re willing to make.

Waving a trans flag is a good way to prove you’re not a fascist, because Nazis are physically incapable of doing so.

Every time you hear a buzzing in your ear, or see an eerie glow emanating from the woods, it would help you remember that you need to pick up butter at the store! That’s marketing.

How is the pocket dimension anchored? If I was on a plane and teleported to my pocket dimension, and then came back 5 minutes later, would I still be in the plane? Or would I be where the plane used to be 5 minutes ago?

If you give kids free lunches, they will have no incentive to get jobs cleaning slaughterhouses! Without this opressive welfare program, the kids will be free to choose whether to continue on to middle school or leave their studies behind for a lucrative career in an abattoir.

The fact that they refuse to acknowledge that the skin tone part of their argument is irrelevant leads me to believe that they are being disingenuous about their motivations. You’ve clearly pointed out that climate is a sufficient explanation and that references to skin tone are unnecessary and misleading.

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

Why are you trying to explain this correlation? Nobody else had mentioned skin tone, so you weren’t correcting anyone. You just brought up a completely unrelated correlation out of the blue for no reason? And you’re defending it in comment after comment instead of just saying “sorry that was a non-sequitur, my bad”.

I got there just in time! Thanks again for your help!

No single experiment is ever going to be definitive. More rigor makes an experiment more reliable as a data point, but informal testing is still useful. It can be a “gut check”, or a launchpad for further, more formal, experimentation. Fuck around and find out is a tried and true staple of science.

Ironically the Manhattan Project’s Trinity test is a great example of this kind of testing. There was extreme uncertainty going into the test. There was no way to create a small-scale version of the experiment, no control to compare against. They didn’t know if the bomb would fizzle or ignite the atmosphere. They set it off to see what would happen, and then tweaked their future experiments and designs based on their observations.

Ever heard of the Demon Core?

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

You could look it up on wikipedia if you want. It’s pretty easy to stop saying wrong things on the internet, if you’re interested enough to fact check your statements. Personally I really like knowing facts instead of just making guesses.

@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

How many times have you repeated this process? Why was one flayed dick not enough?

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

Read the linked article

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

You look like a real idiot here. I really suggest you actually read the article instead of “scanning” it. You clearly don’t even understand the term “implicit multiplication” if you’re claiming it’s made up. Implicit multiplication is not the controversial part of this equation, which you would know if you read the article and understood what people in this thread are even talking about. Stop spamming your shitty blog and just. Read. The. Article.

@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

Skimmed your comment and it’s wrong. Let me know if you ever decide to read the article instead of arguing against an imagined opponent.

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

Why would I bother to read your comment when I know it’s wrong?

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

I’ll read your comment when you read the article. Challenge level: impossible.

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

I stopped reading your comment when I saw you still hadn’t read the article.

atomicorange ,
@atomicorange@lemmy.world avatar

I’ll take that as admission that you’re too unintelligent to read.
