Yeah.
It's OK for us Americans to fuck each other in the ass. But NO Chinese ass fucking allowed!

Working on CRTs can be very dangerous. Please be very careful.

Any old school arcades in your area? They should know who works on CRTs.

That infographic is the first I've seen that gives me a smaller version when I click on it.

I do wonder this.

I buy most of my groceries from Costco and Aldi. I'm sure it saves me a lot of $$ but I've not done any price comparisons recently.

Consumers need a union. Badly.

ETA: I have noticed that prices seem higher the few times I've been at the "normal" grocery store. I think some stores hold prices down more than others so I reward the stores that work harder in my interest. Except Walmart. Fuck Walmart.

I decided to never make an in game purchase for one of the games I play the most. Only once did some random call me a "poor", which made me laugh. One the stupider things I've heard someone say in that game.

The question NONE of the school kids asked: How does cancelling school save water?

guyrocket ,
@guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

You're probably right.

Could Reddit's data be "poisoned" to prevent its use in training AI?

In case you didn't know, you can't train an AI on content generated by another AI because it causes distortion that reduces the quality of the output. It is also very difficult to filter out AI text from human text in a database. This phenomenon is known as AI collapse....

guyrocket ,
@guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

Y'all.

We want to poison REDDIT'S data, not Lemmy's. Go over there!

Doesn't help anything that most "gum base" has PLASTIC in it.

Why don't phones support 2FA? (kbin.social)

Phones could allow much higher security if they supported 2 factor authentication. This could be face/fingerprint along with a typed or swiped password. This seems like a simple solution that leverages software that is already implemented. Just make it an added option in addition to the existing one...

guyrocket OP ,
@guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

?

I must be missing something. Facial recognition is 1 method. What is the second?

guyrocket OP ,
@guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

I don't think you understand 2FA.

guyrocket OP ,
@guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

You are correct. I was thinking about how to set a passphrase on my phone.

In a scenario where one is unconscious, fingerprint or facial recognition are poor protection. Add a passphrase or swipe to a physical identity methods and you are protected.

Not certain, but I think this also could help protect from virtual attacks because even if they get your passphrase they also need a physical identity method.

guyrocket OP ,
@guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

I think the confusion here is that I mean to use 2FA to access my phone, not websites or other hardware.

guyrocket OP ,
@guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

That's interesting. I have never really used the biometric keys so I'm not familiar with that.

So set up another backup password for situations where biometric keys fail. Then the 2 passes that you type unlock the phone.

I've found cowboy boots to be very slippery on snow or ice. This person's credibility is sinking fast...

guyrocket ,
@guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

If they put hiking boot soles on them they could be OK. I suppose you could add "spikes" yourself for winter. Like these: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=shoe+spikes+winter&iax=images&ia=images

If this makes it to American shores they will not be able to keep up with demand.

I do not think this will ever make it to the USA.

guyrocket ,
@guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

You fucker. Now that gets to live in my head.

THANK YOU.

A gun and plenty of ammo. Don't need anything else to be Caesar.

guyrocket ,
@guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

Et tu, Brute?

I didn't say which gun. I think the right submachine gun would do fine.

guyrocket ,
@guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

You're not really thinking this through. You started from the premise that this will fail and are only presenting thoughts that support that premise.

The gun gets you whatever you want, including armor and whatever else. Kill one person, hopefully Caesar, and do it in front of as many people as possible. Then your demands start and must be met ASAP.

There are plenty of possible paths to success just as there are to failure and neither is guaranteed.

Drive to Hawai'i?!?

guyrocket ,
@guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

Yes. Get a good run at the jump.

The Hawai'i jump in California.

    Good thing it was a fork and not a plastic knife. Plastic knives ARE lethal weapons.

    @guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

    Well, he IS British so what did you expect?

    guyrocket ,
    @guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

    A British chef? Oxymoron much?

    Brits are going to teach the world about FOOD? Do they even know what spices are? Does ANYONE else think BEANS on TOAST is GOOD?

    Next we'll get some Jamaican bobsledders, one-handed clapping, military intelligence and accurate estimates.

    Those suspenders must be too damn tight.

    guyrocket ,
    @guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

    I think some places you can buy sheets and pillowcases separately and not in sets. What this can allow you to do is buy a flat sheet and use it on your mattress instead of a fitted sheet. You might need to buy a size bigger for this to work, I don't know.

    The flat sheet should be better because you can tuck it under the mattress and it will not do that crazy balling up in the wash/dry.

    I just talked myself into trying this someday.

    @guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

    I think I saw it recently at a hotel.

    guyrocket ,
    @guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

    Metal roofing exists. It's more like sheets than shingles. Not aware of metal shingles but I think it could work.

    guyrocket ,
    @guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

    Interesting. I've never seen that.

    guyrocket ,
    @guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

    Yeah, I don't know how tolerable the noise is from a metal roof. I do wonder.

    guyrocket ,
    @guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

    You forgot the part where the early bird tells the night owl they're "lazy" for sleeping so late, which is complete and utter bullshit because you both slept the same amount.

    guyrocket ,
    @guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

    Your selective math is not doing you any favors and I'm not sure you fully understand what I'm suggesting. Do you know what TCO is?

    I actually did this for a while and it worked out well for me. My divorcemobile was a very old and very used 1st generation Prius. I rented pickup trucks for vacations. I didn't leave town 1x/month, not sure why that is a need. But this points out that everyone has very different scenarios and needs.

    More recently I've took a vacation by train and rented a car at my destination which worked out well.

    When the day comes where we can buy econobox EVs this seems like a viable solution to me. But it does depend on a person's transportation needs.

    guyrocket ,
    @guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

    Rural living does come with challenges that urban living does not. A hybrid might be the best solution for that situation.

    I don't think EV is the solution for everyone everywhere in its current state. Perhaps one day it will be as the tech improves.

    I do think that most urban commuting could and should be done in EVs.

    What do people think about helmet laws for ebikes?

    guyrocket ,
    @guyrocket@kbin.social avatar

    This is interesting. Do you know the company name and/or have a link?
