Because trumps base doesn't have a long memory. They only remember the " is now a felon" from the sentence "this guy did what trump asked and because of this is now a felon"
That part always makes me laugh too. It would be like if Trump ordered a hitman to kill someone and then his defense was "why would anyone take the word of an admitted killer?"
