I can't believe Daikatana is on sale at GOG.com for C$1.09.
Part of me wants to buy it because this was an infamous part of PC gaming history. I've never played it but it's got a reputation for being one of the worst games of all time -- though I hear from many people that its reputation is unearned.
This was John Romero's first game after leaving id Software, and there was an egregious marketing campaign in magazines that said, "John Romero is about to make you his bitch."
Well, no bitches were made in the making of Daikatana. In fact, I don't any human was transformed into any species of canid -- never mind the gender specificity -- as a result of that game.
When the game was released it was littered with bugs and jankiness. Many people who bought Daikatana said it was unplayable.
But there was a fan-made patch -- approved by Romero -- that fixes the game. Apparently, it's much better now.
