I have had the exact experience you're describing, as a Linux noob. I used Ubuntu Cinnamon for a while, and it worked well OOTB but it also felt a bit too much like using a Mac or something. Very streamlined, not as customizable, it didn't really inspire you to go out learning how Linux works. Plus all of the things I've heard about Red Hat made me want to make a change, and EndeavourOS has been awesome. It's incredibly fast and lightweight, and I've been able to configure it to do just about everything I want to so far. If it fails short, it only ever really seems to be just a lack of knowledge on my part.

cups is pain

It's hilarious because it was FAR easier for me to get printing going on my Linux machine than with W10. It's an old printer, 1320n from HP, maybe 15 years old, but the damn thing is amazing for document printing, and I had to hunt for drivers and do a lot of compatibility shit to get my computer to recognize it. Arch (EndeavourOS) seemed to just natively recognize the printer and gave me zero fuss. When I was using Ubuntu, I used CUPS and it wasn't terrible. I liked it better than driver fishing, for sure.

Kind of feels like giving my toddler a loaded gun, but saying that it's safe because the safety is on.

Classy ,

Sure, I drink my own piss. It's sterile, and I like the taste.

Oh I'm sure it isn't, I'm just quoting Dodgeball haha

The lady across the street from us used to own a small dog, I think it passed and she recently got an XL bully. She struggles to walk it, always looks angry with the dog, it's always barking and glaring at me and my family. I have been carrying my gun more recently because I'm waiting for the day that dog decides to try to make a meal out of my two-year-old.

Why are dognuts the way they are? Just get a fucking pom.

Classy ,

To claim that it's entirely environmental is to flaunt longstanding understanding on how genetics works. Nobody looks at border collies, with their high intelligence, and say "oh it's just environment", or chihuahuas being territorial little shits and say "oh it's just environment". These dogs were ENGINEERED to be this way, it's in their bones.

Pitbulls have been specifically bred for their toughness, their aggression, their locking jaw, and because you happened to get a couple good ones doesn't invalidate the fact that they are statistically one of the most dangerous breeds to own.

The movie is a serious trip. Check out other work from that studio, too. VVitch and Hereditary are solid, fantastic horror films.

I just wanted to pass along that I read this entire thing, and while I have zero need to install a security camera in a walk-in, I'm very grateful for this awesome comment.

Classy ,

I imagine the measurement is something like "perception of sound to the human ear". A rock concert is generally very loud and whether you're 5 feet back or 30 feet back from the stage won't make a huge difference

Classy ,

I'm generally great at traversing my house quietly, unless my fiance or child are asleep, and then I'm a fucking cave beast making as much noise as humanly possible, seemingly.

Classy ,

Not true, it specifically states in the article that, for example, one user had over 300 photos reappear, "some of which were revealing". This is obviously not great but it isn't likely as scandalous as it's being made out to be.

Classy ,

There's so much misinformation online, sure it could have been a joke but it's so easy to just be lazy, read the comment straight and move on acting like there's some kind of operation going on at Apple stealing your nudes. I don't really care if it's a joke or not, and you're not even the OP so who are you to say it's for a fact a joke?

My '14 RAV4 is amazing. Gimme CD player or give me death!

I need sources, I want to see more photos

Hermeneutic of suspicion. Interesting social phenomenon. I've worked in my adult life to fight against it. I hug my male friends, tell them I love them if I feel it, fuck all the toxicity. I know I'm straight, so who gives a shit if some sensitive bitch "alpha male" gets super self conscious if he sees it?

Classy ,

This is me with everyday and every day. It's an everyday occurrence that I see everyday used incorrectly!

I'm so glad Trump is running because it means Biden can do literally anything and every single voter can just scream BUT TRUMP TOO and suddenly Joe is absolved.

Upvoted for Leatherman. My Wave+ is amazing

Classy ,

I agree. Should I tell her that it was a typo? would have worked better imo

Classy ,

So why is the consensual photography of a nude model for sexual enjoyment not considered a sex-positive act?

Classy ,

I have a CHF #8 that is a magnificent thin casting, I look forward to trying this with that pan!

Classy ,

Doesn't affect me since I'm on EndeavourOS and they discontinued ARM support anyway!

Classy ,

I feel this this bot has been doing a poorer job recently. I'm seeing less proper AI summaries and more "just start quoting the article somewhere in the middle with no context"

I think you're approaching it too much like a computer scientist. I don't think that organic brains have hard limits like that, or stack overflow, etc.

Bird flu has now jumped to cows - and their milk. Could humans be next? ( www.sciencefocus.com )

A strain of bird flu known as H5N1 or highly pathogenic avian influenza has made a worrying leap to cattle herds across the US over the past month. This development has sparked "enormous concern" among health experts, including the World Health Organization's (WHO) chief scientist, who warned of the virus' "extremely high"...

Killing animals to eat them is wrong, plain and simple

See, it's these kinds of fanatical black-and-white statements that makes it hard to sympathize with vegan ideology, even as I agree with many of its tenets. Feeling sad for animals that die to be consumed is not a strong argument for it being wrong. Humans are animals just as any other, and if it is wrong inherently to kill something to sustain oneself, then we should kill off all carnivorous and insectivorous animals, so that they cannot kill and eat their prey.

Classy ,

I do think we are not aligning in communication, and I think you're misreading my tone. I did read your comment with the intention that you clarified here, and I saw that you were not vegan, but it's hard to deny that Killing animals to eat them is wrong, plain and simple is a very hard-line stance that would typically be touted by vegan activists. I was more replying to that point itself than you as an individual in making that statement.

I disagree with the point that one cannot ethically kill an animal, and I also agree wholeheartedly that our consumption habits around meat are abysmal for the environment. I am in hardcore corn and dairy country, so I am well-aware of the consequences of our mass production of meat and grain. The Midwestern ecosystem is practically gone. Illinois at one point boasted over 20,000,000 acres of prairie, and today that total is less than 10,000.

Regarding the quotation, I was not saying that you felt that way. My reply is to the ardent severity of the claim that all killing of animals is wrong, and trying to arrive at a conclusion to that worldview that I think is in line with that thinking. I'm sorry if you thought I was trying to put that opinion on you, that was just me wording myself poorly.

Carnivore accelerationism

A Pound of Hamburger Meat Would Cost $30 Without Tax Payer Subsidies ( medium.com )

The United States federal government allocates a staggering $38 billion annually to prop up the meat and dairy industries. These subsidies significantly reduce the price of meat products, including hamburgers. Research from 2015 reveals that these subsidies slash the price of a pound of hamburger meat from $30 to the $5 we see...

You wouldn’t say “a uniform”.

Why the hell not?

Classy ,

Yes, so 'a uniform' is the correct formatting, not 'an uniform'.

Thank you for the recommendation!

So I gotta ask, because I've always noticed this about the song:

In the first chorus, is the electric guitar that plays between the brass lines, two chords, tuned slightly higher than the rest of the band? It sounds different than the second chorus.
