Episode one was really solid. One of the better episodes of the second half of the show. Pulls on all sorts of threads regarding class, social justice, and soft authoritarianism.
I've just binged most of the series in the past month or so after learning about it as a result of Steve Pemberton's appearance on Taskmaster. I think it's absolutely brilliant, although somewhat uneven. The episodes that hit are just superb, and even the ones that aren't perfectly executed still tend to contain some interesting ideas.
Put on the playlist of tunes from season 1 to celebrate, for those who haven't watched it yet and want a glimpse (or just to enjoy some banging tunes):
Oh I thought that was a brand new Murder They Hope. But it's just a repeat from the one they've already shown on UK Gold (or whatever that channel is called now)
At the very least if people know they can get their affairs sorted ahead of time. We had to write a paper in school on the importance of advance directives and the case study I used was a guy that finally just had to be arrested and dragged to the ER in handcuffs (ppl w dementia can get... interesting) when if he'd had an advance directive and designated a surrogate decision maker, that trusted person could have just signed off on him gently being led to an appropriate care facility. Instead all of his loved ones were stuck watching his slow and very public decline without any way to save him from himself.
I don't know about that, the twelfth doctor was my absolute favorite, and his series' had some of the best and most emotional episodes of the show. I wasn't as big a fan of Jodie Whittaker, not because she's a woman like some people, but just the vibe of the show changed a lot. I still enjoyed her seasons though. The new years special with this new doctor was... interesting though. Not really a fan of the Disney style cgi they've been slowly introducing, or the musical numbers. Really seems like since Disney bought it they're trying to do the same treatment as they did with new star wars and star trek. I'm reserving judgement for now though.
Prison isn’t funny. Glamorising crime or the degenerate behaviour of the underclasses isn’t funny or clever either. It’s fucking sad that society has made huge sections see crime as a viable option.
If you followed the show you would see it for one is a comedy and also adresses the causes behind the behaviour namely single parent families lacking support and in the case of Jock, an abusive alcoholic father who does not provide a safe space or nurture their childs innate abilities.
It is not a set of instructions. If you watched Top Boy and wanted to sell drugs then you missed the point.

Indeed! Porridge and Only Fools And Horses were wildly irresponsible programmes and did irreparable harm to society.
Wut? Have the guardian ever watched the Young Offenders? That's like calling Batman a prison drama because there's a scene set inside a prison for five minutes. 🤣
Man, I saw a trailer and was disappointed. I love the actor in Sex Ed, and thought he'd be a great fit for The Doctor, but his performance didn't feel like The Doctor. Less 'scatterbrained quippy genius' and more 'snarky Gen Z know-it-all'.
I’m glad it looks good because the Christmas special made me Cringe and my kids decided they aren’t really interested in watching the new series if it’s like that. For context, they’ve rewatched everything from Ecclestone onwards several times.
Yes.
It is no longer on the free to air (Aussie) ABC which has shown every other Dr Who season since episode 1 and maintained interest by showing repeats through the dark times when no new shows were being made.
The ABC even resurfaced episodes that the BBC had lost.
Not sure which is worse a Dalek invasion or Disney.
They will come for Star Trek, Dune and DC.
They will come.
