Darryl Hickman died last week at the age of 92. He was a child actor in "The Prisoner of Zenda" and "The Grapes of Wrath," became a monk for a brief period, then later in life was a CBS executive and had a bit part in Sidney Lumet's "Network." Christan Blauvelt of @IndieWire has penned this moving tribute to Hickman, a "critical link to Old Hollywood" and a crucial part of one of the most striking death scenes in film noir history in "Leave Her to Heaven." "When Bernard Hill died recently, I wrote about the unique feeling accompanying the real-life death of an actor when that actor has been especially associated with a dramatic death scene onscreen," Blauvelt writes. "That feeling is only magnified when it’s been a very long time since the actor performed the demise in question."

@mrfrobozz We did wonder when writing the multiple choice options whether we should have separated tacos from burritos, but decided to stick them together since the judge ruled on them as though they were one. Perhaps next time we need a poll where you can choose multiple options — which of these are sandwiches: Hot dogs, burritos, burgers, sandwiches, tacos, etc? Can you tell it's a quiet day in Flipboard land and we're overthinking this?!

"Reading Rainbow," which ran on PBS from 1983 until 2006, is remembered with love in a new documentary, "Butterfly in the Sky." Kevin Makin reviews it for @csmonitor. 39% of the people who participated in this vote thought that "Abbey Road" by The Beatles didn't make Apple Music's top 10, but the correct answer was Joni Mitchell's "Blue," which Apple placed at No. 16.

The list proved controversial, partly because some folk were confused at how it was put together (it was chosen by Apple Music’s experts plus musicians like Pharrell Williams and Charli XCX, plus songwriters, producers and other industry pros), and partly because Apple is largely believed to have killed the concept of the album by introducing the iPod.

This post by @Paperposts tickled us — he pointed out that the UX for discovering the list was woeful — "a horrible, empty husk of an acquisition mechanic."

The "Man or Bear?" debate has dominated internet discourse for the past week or two (TL;DR In a viral TikTok video, a man asks eight women if they’d rather be stuck in a forest with a man or a bear. Seven say they'd prefer the bear). Here's a unique perspective from Laura Killingbeck, a contributor to Bikepacking magazine, who actually did leave mankind behind to live in nature with bears. "'Would you rather be stuck in a forest with a man or a bear?' is just another way of asking, 'Are you afraid of men?' she writes. Update: The DOJ has filed this suit. “We allege that Live Nation relies on unlawful, anticompetitive conduct to exercise its monopolistic control over the live events industry in the United States at the cost of fans, artists, smaller promoters, and venue operators,” U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement. “The result is that fans pay more in fees, artists have fewer opportunities to play concerts, smaller promoters get squeezed out, and venues have fewer real choices for ticketing services. It is time to break up Live Nation-Ticketmaster.”

Oasis have dropped a hint that they may be getting back together after their split 15 years ago. The iconic Britpop band, fronted by battling brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, posted a cryptic video on X, with no explanation. Some fans believe it means new live gigs or music. Others are convinced it's aerial footage of Sawmill Studio in Cornwall, where Oasis recorded their debut, "Definitely Maybe," and that the video teases a 30th anniversary reissue. As we await clarification, here's a fun question: It's now 25 years since Blur's "Country House" and Oasis's "Roll With It" went head to head for the U.K. No. 1 spot. Still no word on whether or not Oasis is coming back, but most voters in this poll couldn't care less. 42% voted for Blur as the iconic Britpop act, while 23% voted for "another band" (not the name of a Britpop group, though it sounds like it could be). Sleeper and Luke Haines/The Auteurs came up in the comments, but by far the most popular choice was Pulp, the Sheffield band fronted by Jarvis Cocker. We completely agree, and to celebrate, here's a blast of our personal favorite, "Mis-Shapes" from the band's 1995 "Different Class" album.

Marvel is rebranding its TV shows to show fans that they don't necessarily have to watch everything in order to understand what's going on. “The hope is that, like the comics, you can just pop in anywhere and have a satisfying experience. Just 18% of respondents to this poll say they watch pretty much everything Marvel does, with 42% dipping in and out and almost as many (36%) saying they're done with the MCU. What's with the disillusionment? People don't want to feel like keeping up with the movies is their part-time job. "I don't want to have to do homework before I watch entertainment," @billyjoebowers said. Fingers crossed future MCU projects will be extra credit, not compulsory.

Graceland is up for sale — or is it? A foreclosure sale of Elvis Presley's compound in Memphis, Tennessee, has been advertised for this Thursday, but Riley Keough, Presley's actress granddaughter, filed a claim to say that the suit on the creditor's paperwork for a $3.8 million loan is fraudulent. Update: A judge has blocked the sale of Graceland after a notary said the signature on a deed of trust wasn't hers. The document purportedly showed that the late Lisa-Marie Presley had borrowed $3.8 million from a company called Naussany Investments, giving Graceland as security. Here are details from ABC.
