Natural Process Art

The Lovers - 2003 by Loren Hall

This painting was made using a technique whereby pigment grains are deposited on a smooth surface of gesso - in the same way that rivers deposit silt and sediments in river deltas and alluvial fans - in nature.

The result is imagery that resembles islands, forests, lakes, and other geological features usually seen in satellite images.

In this particular piece, 2 figures can be seen embracing within what looks like a large egg, containing both of them. Metallic paints in gold, aqua, purple, and blue are laid down in layers, and interact in interesting and unexpected ways.

Thank you for visiting the places I make, where all are welcome!
