Why is there a disconnect between the messages campus protesters want to amplify and what is broadcast? According to a professor:
> Journalists see confrontations, arrests and disruption as more newsworthy than peaceful protests
> Student efforts to educate their campuses were largely ignored while the encampments made the front pages.
> Universities and police have dedicated media teams ready to give quotes, students don’t

My takeaway from this opinion piece is contrary to what the other commenters suggest.

It seems clear to me that occupying the campuses was a poor approach towards helping Palestinians.

Journalist: You two fight and I'll watch
Students: Ceasefire! Peace! Justice! Listen to us!
Police: (slapping palms with batons, loading weapons)
Students: Don't hit us! Don't shoot us!
Students: (to Journalist) Just listen!
Police: (Hit, shoot students; arrests made)
Journalist: BOLD Mayhem on campus as police quell violent protests
Readers: (What was the protest about again?)
Journalist: My work here is done.

journalist here. It's reporting 101 to get both sides of the story. That happens too often in political situations where one side obviously isn't telling the truth.

I guess "fairness in journalism" just means being fair to people with authority and power.

In other words, the medium determines the message you receive. Ditch the MSM, folks.
