It may not be what @pluralistic had in mind when he wrote it, but it's hard to read his piece "In defense of bureaucratic competence" without thinking of how America used to build massive public works projects and thousands of miles of rail across the country, and how it now can't even build out a mid-sized city's public transit system without relying on pricey contractors and consultants.

Smadar : "The refusal of elite reservists to attend to their periodic training […] is conceived as another Ashkenazi privilege. In general, being pro-Palestinian in often requires contacts and funds to pay bail rather than rot in prison in case one is arrested during a solidarity visit to West Bank villages."

Smadar : left " are budget dependent. If there are donations, they usually come from progressive Zionist donor organizations of the American-Jewish diaspora, and NGOs need to adapt their activism so that they don’t offend the donors. “Here, the geographical division is ethnic-based: we’ve had ghetto communities since the founding of the country. We are the only country in the world where a town can decide who to admit and who not to. They exclude not only Palestinians, but also the poor, or single mothers.”

Given the impact this has on so many you would think there would be building pressure for DEA to get this resolved and done with. I guess as long as they get theirs everything is “fine?”

“The Empty Adderall Factory A drugmaker’s feud with the DEA is exacerbating the ADHD meds crisis — at a rate of 600 million missing doses a year.”
