New Xbox Feature Could Save Players Loads Of Time ( kotaku.com )

Modern games get patched all the time, and there are few things more low-key annoying than sitting down to dig into a meaty RPG or hop into a quick deathmatch only to see you’ve got to download an 8GB update. You start scrolling TikTok or dropping memes in the group chat and by the time you realize the game’s finally ready,...

As far as I know auto update is only for games you've opened in the last 30 days and you have to have the Xbox set to standby or whatever. But yes, games you've been playing should update. I think this is for downloading the update and being able to continue playing if it comes out mid gaming. I could be reading it wrong though.

Seriously lol

Honestly seems like it's a totally plausible scenario.

I feel bad for the devs because they do all the work and have all the talent but the Execs and board of directors dictate what goes on and it's always driven by money not passion. I'm starting to worry for Xbox's future in console gaming with Microsoft as a whole now taking the helm.

I miss the actual gameplay of Origins more than anything else. Large areas and things of the like can usually be mostly passed by if you stick to the main quest.

    Fantastic username aha. I'm not sure what they'd be willing to take or what a gamertag is worth. Guess it's subject. As for finder's fee, what would you want?

    Weren't these guys already a Sony studio?? The one that never got to ship their first game. So they shut down to open a new one? Wonder why.

    Yeah, I'm worried that Microsoft leadership (not Xbox) will end up doing major damage from how the two of them have been talking.

    Fallout 76 Player Nukes Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Just For Fun ( kotaku.com )

    Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer is taking a lot of heat online for recent decisions to close beloved studios like Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks. Last night the long-time gaming exec was apparently exploring the wasteland in Fallout 76 when another player nuked his entire campsite.

    To be fair if the blockbuster superhits are actually good that would be fantastic. And focusing more on fewer titles could achieve that. As long as they aren't just laying people off for the hell of it.

    AlexanderTheGreat OP Mod ,
    @AlexanderTheGreat@lemmy.world avatar

    I can't think of a way this is good.

    On the whole I agree with this, I'm just trying to be positive. The world needs it's now more than ever aha.

    Large titles are already happening and we're already getting good games in them

    Microsoft isn't having large good games though according to most critics, which is the problem they're trying to "fix". I think all the games have been from decent to good. But a lot of people aren't happy with it.

    Imagine making a killer title like Hi-Fi and then losing your job because a suit needs number go up.

    That is a good point. This is why we need unions and why we need regulations.

    AlexanderTheGreat Mod ,
    @AlexanderTheGreat@lemmy.world avatar

    That's unfortunate. Hopefully this turns out to be a good thing in the long run and all those people are put to use making new games better. No point in having that many studios when you just churn out shit (Hi-Fi excluded) with them l. Better to be more focused.
