I would really like to see a Microsoft person try to explain why Windows, even on a corporate machine like this, comes with Disney+, Roblox, Pinterest, shitty Gameloft games & co pinned to the start menu. Which company admin wants their employees to have this?
Equally baffling: why do I, a paying user of the Office suite, get a full screen feed of shitty "news" in the Outlook app? Surely the 3 cents they make on some boomer accidentally opening the "channels" tab and clicking on one of the gigantic ads in it isn't worth all of their apps feeling like a scam?
@vowe except that this is a photo from a corporate machine in front of me as deployed. W10 Pro straight from the employer. All I did was move the tiles left/right within the start menu
@vowe I get that you can disable these as an admin (though I guess Intune costs extra?). What I don't get is why any enterprise Windows client would have ads in it by default unless the admin specifically chose to disable them
I've been digging around Ecosia documentation for a potential upcoming sponsorship and found that they now offer Google results as well, on top of the Bing ones from before. Neat!
On a scale of 1 to 10, someone tell me how much I should know or care about this Drake diss track thing I haven't followed at all but has taken over all my feeds today.
@ironicsans I haven't followed I either, but I'm pretty sure the answer is close to 1 if you don't actively listen to either. No point in having a strong opinion in celebrity drama we won't do anything about anyway
Few things are as sure in life as a video being a banger when YouTube serves it to you for the 10th time despite you being convinced you aren't interested in it. It's YouTube's "trust me bro" and it's always right.
Sadly the battery of my Lumia 950 seems to have died while sitting in a box. Does anyone happen to have any working Windows phones I could borrow for a video near Berlin?
A to-do list is both the most helpful and the most stressful thing I've ever made for myself. It feels like I should be able to finish it one day but I only ever get further from completion.
The title literally says "I stole all these videos" -> 54m views.
It is the failure of the creator class that we haven't organized to stop platforms from letting anyone steal our content at will. Music labels, movie studios, etc. all get special protections for their content. But because we are individuals, we have our shit reuploaded all the time and the platforms don't particularly mind. A view is a view to them. And if content is stolen from other platforms it's even a net positive to them.
On the Note 10 I barely used it. Screen too small to do much!
On the Fold 3 I used it sometimes for storyboarding videos. Screen big enough. But the pen was in my bag, so I only took it out for bigger projects.
On the Fold 5 I initially hesitated to get this new case. But it being built in makes all the difference. I use it a few times a week now. Doodling ideas, anything that needs precise controls (like video edits), I reach for it without hesitation. Love it!
@brawaru Did the tiles ever work for you? I tried to make them work but there was always a lag, they weren't 100% updated and I couldn't trust that it wasn't showing me a state from, like, 6 hours ago which made them pointless to me. I liked them on Windows Mobile but never got around to using them on the desktop
A viewer just convinced me to finally make a Patreon. I don't actually plan to post anything there, but if you want to support me in making more ambitious videos, you can now do that here too:
@aeischeid I didn't actually look into that too much so I can't give you an easy answer, but fun fact what I do know is that the other big use case today is to use quantum dots as basically paint in biology.
You can target tiny stuff at cell level, color it and trace it across the body, which apparently works great
@louiscohen1 My logic is that generally patreons tend to work way better for "cause" oriented channels than "general interest" related channels like mine, so I don't expect a huge return. That combined with the fact that Nebula kiiiiiind of covers the support side of it made me hesitant. That said I should probably just do one anyway and let people support wherever they want to, haha. Will add it to my list!
