Of all Australians on the National Broadband Network: 36% are on a 12 or 25 Mbps plan, 43% are on a 50 Mbps plan, 25% are on a 100 Mbps plan, and only 2.9% are on anything faster than 100Mbps.

@Chaft I have a robot vacuum that says "Welcome to use robot vacuum cleaner" out loud when turned on, and I've seen other cheap Chinese electronic products with voice chips that say "Welcome to use (the) <name of product>" when powered up. It seems to be a thing over there.

    @IceWolf @aria you're both right, kind of. The Old English name for spider was "attorcoppe" – attor messing poison, coppe meaning head. Likewise, corncoppe/corncob – a head of corn.

    In The Hobbit, Bilbo refers to the spiders of Mirkwood as "attercop" when singing to draw them out.

    @Phil_Tanner @sundogplanets Seconded. Having also worked in the public sector in a FVEY country, all emails must have such a marking, even the unofficial ones, which must be marked UNOFFICIAL. UNCLASSIFIED means it's official.

    If you're on an android phone or device, you have [two] days to opt out of google's "find my device network," which google bills as "a crowdsourced network of Android devices." So, y'know: Super safe.

    You'll likely have gotten an email about it, but I know in my case, GMail's own machine learning system didn't mark said email as important or meaningfully different in any way. I don't know what that says, but i'm pretty sure it's nothing good.

    Game development question because I am in a pickle with how to get the player to the success state to beat my horror game.

    Pretend you were to be involved; would crowd sourcing or working together with a community to find a solution ruin a game for you? In essence, you would learn how the game worked , all of its little tricks, and how the major puzzles of the game needed to be resolved. Would you still be able to enjoy the game after seeing behind the curtain like that?
