Exploring my gender identity trough games

Few days ago I made a post here about me questioning my gender identity and comments there gave me a courage to experiment a bit. I decided to try playing some video games as female characters to see how it goes. I found that to be safest way to do it because it isn't about changing my appearance. Results are different than I'd...

If you are in the mood for another game and have half an hour of time, I recommend checking out "What's your gender?". It's a short experience that made a big difference for me.

Of course, everybody responds differently to such things. For me... (spoilered for those who still want to play it)

description of gameplay

the moment when you step though one of doors at the end and the game uses the related pronouns was a very powerful one. I did not even dare to step through the "right one" the first time I played the game and was very emotional when I did during a later playthrough.

But ultimately everyone has to find their own way to figures themselves out. So I will keep my fingers crossed that you will find yours.

Neither did Olivia Colman: Her mother was a nurse, her father a surveyor. Decidedly middle class, but she was not born into wealth, nor the children of famous people. She studied to become a teacher, before she got a few small roles in British TV and build a career out of that. She went the long way.

In my experience one should never underestimate the spitefulness of gamers who think that game devs should suffer for their entertainment.

Yeah, Majestic was incredibly interesting because it was an attempt to create an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) that was more than just a marketing campaign and could support itself financially. Its failure led to ARGs being abandoned as standalone games and ARGs mostly remained marketing which - ultimately - led to a slow, but inevitable decline of the ARG as a genre when the marketing money dried up.

George Lucas introduced evil guys wearing SS uniforms who conduct genocide before the viewers' eyes and somehow people still pretend that Star Wars is apolitical.

Oh, I have... I have...

Yeah, it's horrible, though - to be a little bit optimistic - I think it can also be seen as a sign that the capital-G Gamers and misogynerds have noticed that they are outnumbered and have to make a shitshow like this in order to have any relevancy.

TBH I understand you perfectly. There are too many bad news these days, but - for whatever it is worth - I attempt to see the good in the bad, even though I am not all that convinced myself most of the time.

Thank you for the kind words, but I don't think I am particularly brave. The main difference between you and me may be that I was around for GamerGate 1.0 and I recognize some of the differences between then and now. While GamerGate 2.0 is - without doubt - dangerous and terrifying, it is far less chaotic than 1.0 and that makes is somewhat easier for me to deal with it.

They also leave out half of the story: The whole thing already started in October. After months of harassment one of the employees snapped and called their shit out. But they leave that part out, claim they got attacked out of nowhere and play the victims.

For me it was how much it felt like a liberation. This is probably more of a placebo effect than anything, but before I was still questioning. Now there is an unexpected clarity.

Oh yeah, that's a doozy (though which Philosophy Tube video isn't?).

Unfortunately the Dril tweet is a fake, the original one was about Kanye West

TBH I believed it too at first, until some other people pointed it out to me. I am not even sure why anyone would even want to fake a Dril tweet though.

Is "REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE" a Gay Movie? [Video Essay by Matt Baume, 36:55] ( www.youtube.com )

Matt Baume has a look at the film classic "Rebel without a cause" from 1955, starring James Dean. It was the quintessential teen movie of its time and was highly influential. Baume uncovers the queer subtext - that was not entirely coincidental....

It's a cult. Altman is one of the TESCREAL devotees. He truly believes that he can build the electronic messiah.

Hello! This is a good article, but it is off-topic for Ghazi, because it does not relate to "media, gaming, entertainment and tech." Therefore it was removed.

Sorry about that.
