This is the 2nd time in a week it's happened: Force-quitting Sonos on a Mac causes the OS to go to a lock screen, requiring biometric or password. WTH?
@briankrebs Theory: the app was hung in a state where the OS was waiting on it in some fashion for idle sleep, such that when the hung app was force-quit the OS saw it as the death of the last process holding back sleep.
Log entries from the power manager might illuminate the issue.
I'll add that forcing quitting Sonos on my Mac seems to be a more common requirement, especially on my laptop when it wakes from being shut or offline.
I had to set it up to automatically quit Slack, Discord, Spotify, and some other Electron-style apps that invariably start going wonky after running for more than 24hrs.
i was all in on sonos early. mostly easy to use, streamed reliably. bit pricey but good sound.
then they decided they wanted to "own the experience". you needed a login, they wanted to try to map your rooms and upload that info, they bricked gear rather than allow real trade-ins or upgrades. the software kept getting buggier and buggier.
i have enough invested in the hardware, i'm not quite ready to replace it all (and not impressed with any of the bluetooth based tech sound/reliability) but i will certainly never buy anything from that company again.
