@pixelfed I'd be happy to host and help moderate on my matrix server discuss.online. We host and moderate the Lemmy official channels there. Please stay on Matrix, I'm not going to be joining discord.
@pixelfed Honestly, that sucks, and I'm sorry you had to deal with that. While I'm happy to see FOSS projects use FOSS comm tools as part of their infrastructure, I would never criticize someone for not using that.
At the end of the day, people use what tools are most comfortable for them. Matrix / Element are cool, but they're far from seamless, and have a long way to go when it comes to usability.
Don't let people push you around for embracing what works best for you. They may as well dictate what you wear, and what you eat.
@sturmsucht Agreed, I think it's just the straw that broke the camel's back.
I've had my fair share of bizarre issues over the years with Matrix, so I can totally understand throwing up my hands and saying "screw it, this isn't something I feel like dealing with right now"
@pixelfed hey, sorry about this :( Your mail on Mar 18th looks like it was sent to abuse@matrix.org, but didn't get a response because your mail address was bouncing (SMTP 550 5.1.1 Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual mailbox table from mx01.mta.zknt.org). We can (could have?) pointed the room alias to a new room if you created one with the right permissions. support@matrix.org is the right place for this sort of support request (although we are very overstretched atm).
@Mrfunkedude The channel was originally created by someone else and I was added as admin through Freenode and over time for whatever reason I was stripped of my admin powers.
It's not really a dramatic story, I don't have time to wait for it to be fixed, as someone reached out months ago from Matrix side, nothing was ever done.
