@thurrott A Game Pass price increase? What, are they wanting to drive down revenues by all the folks canceling?

@thurrott As a long-time Xbox fan, I haven't felt this disillusioned with Xbox since the Xbox One launch. Financials are one thing, but clearly leadership has failed dramatically when it comes to quality, taking care of their people and game pipelines. By all means, adjust pricing while staying competitive, but kill off more studios of Tango Gameworks and Arkane's caliber, and the platform's reputation will be Embracer-level bad. Seems like a shake-up is in order.

@thurrott This is why Sony doesn’t wanna drop a big new title on PS+ day one. You can offer it later and rake in cash for 6 months to a year or so. While GamePass can be a great deal for the user if they aren’t careful they will hit a point people will say they can just buy the game or two they want every x week(s) and save money.

@ppb1701 @thurrott So this is the new Xbox chief 's mission? Punish the workers for Microsoft's failures? I don't think fans will forgive him if he axes .

Bethesda could be seen as old school. These studios should be independent, and never bow to big companies because of situations like this.

@AAKL @ppb1701 No, I think the mission is that the business needs to make sense financially. The issue as I see it is that this dribbling out of layoffs and studios is not smart for the business.

@thurrott @AAKL Completely, and just makes them look stupid since they spent all that money over the last few years vacuuming them up.

@thurrott Honestly, Microsoft games should be on Game Pass 6 months to a year after release as an incentive to buy the game when it comes out. The game industry needs “release windows”, multiple chances for a game to make money. It’s so obvious.

@jeffkibuule Yep. I bet they move there for AAA titles at least. COD would lose tons of money if it was Day 1 on Game Pass

@thurrott At that point, Microsoft moght have a greater chance of getting Game Pass on PlayStation once more Xbox Games release on PlayStation. Sony will be less likely to block it, so it will not be seen as anti-competitive, depending on market share numbers. They really don’t want buyers to associate getting games on subscription and never buying a game at full price on launch. Protect the model.
