Well, we can also measure this magnetism by looking at pulsar signals (and in particular rotation measure effects) when a CME crosses in front! This image is from Howard et al. (2021) which shows where pulsars are when a CME crossed the line of sight. Happy to report people were observing pulsar signals during last few days where the big solar storms passed Earth!
