I'm still vaguely convinced that the 'OG Season' of #Fortnite was explicitly a 'fuck you, look how shit our game used to be, stop talking about how good you think it was'.

A jury just found Google guilty on all counts of #antitrust violations stemming from its dispute with #Epic, maker of #Fortnite, which brought a variety of claims related to how Google runs its app marketplace. This is huge:

Google verliert App-Store-Prozess gegen Fortnite-Macher Epic

Mon 11/13 - Fortnite Dance Copyright Suit, ASC 606 Here to Stay, Trump Wants TV Cameras in Courtroom and CA Bar Passage is Down
We have a #Fortnite choreography suit revived, revenue rules are a hassle but no changes are coming, #Trump wants TV cameras in the courtroom, and the CA bar passage rate takes a down turn.
Two weeks into the #Fortnite miniseason, and while I do have fun when I play with my mates, I do also feel that... it's not drawing me in.
Which is fair, it's a version of the game that's pretty old, and... well... the designers have clearly learnt a lot. It'd be like if I was given a copy of the original Elder Scrolls Online (before they rewrote the entire game)
So, the “OG" season of #Fortnite is hitting me right in the feels (as the young people say, or did, anyhow, I think, at some point). The first week is focused on Chapter 1, Season 5, which is exactly when I started playing.
Everything looks and feels slightly wrong, partly because of how much time has passed and how much the game has advanced (and probably partly because I was playing the mobile version only back then, and PC-only now).
I am glad that Epic has left in the modern mechanics—the Zero Build mode, the new movement types (sprinting, sliding, and climbing didn't exist when this was the game's active map). But the weapons, terrain, and visual assets have all reverted.
Some season changes on #Fortnite have left me at a disadvantage, but has been the toughest change yet. I won four battle royale victories in the week leading up to it, but have only placed in the top 50 twice in my first dozen OG matches.
I think I recall @thurrott once talking about revisiting old Call of Duty maps bringing up the same kind of feeling as visiting real places that you knew well but had been away from. I'm definitely feeling that last night and this morning, as I get reacquainted with the original #Fortnite island.
It reminds me very much of the feeling of going back to Walt Disney World in 2011, for the first time since going as a kid in 1993.
