Apple has removed a number of AI image generation apps from the App Store after they were found to be advertising the ability to create nonconsensual nude images.
Apple’s actions come following an investigation by @404mediaco, which found adverts for these apps being pushed on Instagram. The apps were only removed when 404 Media provided links to them and their related ads to Apple, indicating “the company was not able to find the apps that violated its policy itself.”
A tech editor recently played Game Boy Advance games on his iPhone thanks to a new emulator called iGBA, which may be the first Game Boy Advance emulator allowed on the App Store since Apple began allowing emulators last week. But is the app an unauthorized copy? Read more at @theverge. https://flip.it/AxcjDo #Tech#Apple#AppStore#Gaming#VideoGames#GameBoy
There’s a new way to browse Apple’s App Store for its Apple Vision Pro. On Apple’s website, you can now find a dedicated “App Store for Apple Vision Pro” page with all the details about visionOS apps. 9to5mac has more: https://flip.it/Q7R53r #Tech#Technology#Apple#AppStore#VisionPro
Today forScore arrives on its fourth platform: visionOS! Redesigning the sheet music reading experience for Vision Pro was a really fun challenge and I'm very proud of where things ended up.
Thanks so much to everyone who helped me beta test it—I think this is the start of something really special and I'm glad you could be a part of it.
Apple's most valuable intangible asset isn't its patents or copyrights - it's an army of people who believe that using products from a $2.89 trillion multinational makes them members of an oppressed religious minority whose identity is coterminal with the interests of Apple's shareholders.

Take the #AppStore. Apple blocks third parties from offering rival app stores for its #iOS platform, which means you can only install apps that have been blessed by Apple. That blessing is contingent on the software authors involved giving $0.30 out of every dollar you spend in their apps to Apple.
Google verliert App-Store-Prozess gegen Fortnite-Macher Epic
If you’re a regular visitor to Apple’s App Store, you may likely soon notice an enhanced experience. According to The Verge, the company is bringing its powerful internal search engine to the App Store and other apps. Will it also use generative AI tools? https://flip.it/Oowjoh #Tech#Technology#Apple#AppStore#Search
I believe it would be cool if some of the third-party developers were able to help out with the project. Also, I hope they include an in app payment feature to make it easier for donations or even for premium features (buying a T-shirt or hat with your Misskey handle on it would be cool).
For all of the people freaking out about the #permissions that the new #Threads app is asking for, let me just say that #Android#PlayStore does a much better job of describing these things than #Apple#iOS#AppStore. I will include a screenshot of the financial section of the app. Please note that most other sections also tell you that the majority of these things are optional. #meta#security
It's nice that #Apple and #Google will face more competition for their #appStore, but if it's gonna be just from other #bigTech companies (#Meta and #Microsoft), it's not gonna help the end users!
Chris Markiewicz (Senior Program Manager, App Store): There is a trusted place for users to discover apps that meet our high standards for safety, privacy, and performance, and that's the App Store.
