Sea-dwelling Pokémon are a special case. Even in the anime, they all hover a few feet above the ground with pretty good maneuverability (except for Magikarp, the poor thing). I don't think you can use Seaking or even Wailord in sky battles, but if you could, it'd be fun to watch. (Edit: Actually, Gyarados gets to fight in sky battles, the lucky dog!)

I should probably explain my tags here. Alice is using both an umbrella and her parachute dress to float around with the wind, and it's safe to say the playing cards got swept up into the air by the same wind. I think that character walking on nothing is a cheshire cat gijinka. Cheshire cat doesn't even pretend to follow the rules of reality, and I think it's not even physically there in the scene, so I consider it an illusion. I might be wrong, though. Alice in Wonderland characters all tend to pull out new abilities whenever they want like it's a shonen fighting anime.

240 years ago, French aeronauts raced to be the first to fly in an untethered balloon. On November 21, Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier got there first with a hot-air balloon. 11 days later, on December 1, Jacques-Alexandre-César Charles proved that this was much easier with a large enough hydrogen balloon. He and Nicolas-Louis Robert traveled 20 miles and landed. Then, Robert got out and Charles rose frighteningly fast to an altitude of 9,800 feet. Charles safely landed but never flew again.

To me, gas balloons have a better feeling of floating than hot-air balloons. Hot-air balloons float when they burn fuel to heat the air inside, which is smoky and noisy. Gas balloons float by simply existing in air heavier than itself. There are mechanics to vent some gas or unload ballast, but gas balloons require no action to stay aloft, silently drifting like the wind itself. There are trade-offs, like having to fill your balloon with either flammable hydrogen or valuable helium. Also, in the 1700s, the chemical reactions required to get a lot of hydrogen were dangerous.

So Rinne's original character Cocoro appears to be a normal girl with cat raccoon ears and tail. There's plenty of art for her, but didn't see her doing anything raccoon-like. For her sake, I hope those are just costume parts. Otherwise, she's dead and her body is being preserved by the vacuum of space.

This is really peaceful. What would be more relaxing that an hours-long orbit around the moon? Since we only need to accelerate our catgirl astronaut to just under lunar escape velocity (5,328 mph) and the moon barely has any atmosphere to slow us down, a regular sci-fi jetpack could plausibly get her into orbit. As long as the orbit is clear, she could sleep in weightlessness as long as she likes. When she wants to get down, she could simply thrust backwards to de-orbit herself and land.

As far as I can tell, Stessie the musician draws her own album art. Her original character likes to fly in the sky a lot, and I guess this cat can fly too. It's more fun with friends.

I know, I posted a Macy's parade balloon last week, but I like this photo! The Elf on the Shelf looks it's just relaxing in the air and enjoying the view. From another angle, it looks like it's watching people through Macy's windows up there?

It's Thanksgiving Day here in the US. As usual, I have to work on the holiday, but people in Manhattan get to see some really big balloons go down the street today. I liked them better untethered but I'll take what I can get.

.hack//Sign is the worst anime series I've ever watched all the way through. This cool music gave me such high hopes. But, this show was about 5 episodes' worth of material and music stretched into 26 episodes, and it still left lots of unanswered questions that require watching more .hack stuff to resolve.
