I think he did this on a TV show (might have been Immortal Songs). It's just absolutely gorgeous - please do yourself a favor and take a few mins to let this sink into your soul. ❤️
I don't care that I'm late to #KPopMonday, nor that I've probably shared this before. #TheGiftofKPop I'd like to contribute is my favorite song (no matter the genre!): SHINee's Like a Fire!
And for that, I'd like to share this MV from Kahi, formerly the leader of After School. I'm specifically sharing the choreo MV because it's one of my favs. Kahi has such clean, precise lines as an idol dancer and you can see that here: https://youtu.be/z0otjkbeaeI
@youronlyone there's #KpopMonday which starts at roughly midnight Korean time every Monday with a weekly theme. If there's another dedicated Kpop weekly running, I can't think of it right now.
This week's #KpopMonday theme is #Atlantis: Give us all your favorite nautical themed songs and MVs. Yachts, mermaids, boys in sailor suits, and everything in between.
Here's the first single off of this year's #EXO album "Exist". The lyrics talk a lot about sinking, the waves, and the ocean.
It is a very quiet, sad or melancholy song. Good for a cold day as the seasons turn. #kpop
Shockingly (not really), I have a #VIXX submission: Dynamite, in which they keep restarting the night, and turning the world upside down, in order to forestall a breakup.
With a bridge that admits this isn't exactly viable, and actually kinda wrong, but uh, classic VIXX-as-song-protagonists: it's the solution they have, so they're going through with it.
Also 수리수리 is a magic word, like Abracadabra, and is translated as such so...
And of course you can pick almost any song by #Dreamcatcher, but my favorite is "Red Sun," which I never, ever get tired of. No one does witchy better.
Let's get some witchy/horror vibes from Red Velvet this #KpopMonday . They have the perfect #abracadabra vibe in Peakaboo. I love this music video so much. This is one of my favorite Red Velvet songs. I can't get enough of it!
To wrap up the last few hours of #KpopMonday in my time zone, here are some songs that made me think of the #YourGravity theme! (Or anti-gravity, as it may be.)
This week's #KPopMonday theme is #ShakeThatBrass. Lots of amazing options so it was tough to narrow down to 3 selections. Still recovering from surgery - it's currently a high pain day and I broke out in stress hives Thursday night so I really look a mess, but I'm managing.
First, we have "Senorita" by (G)I-DLE. It was the title track off their 2nd EP, I Made. The girls drag it a lot, so I've become something of a defender because 1. I genuinely like the song! and 2. I converted many folks into #gidle fans with this song! 🤷🏻♀️ https://youtu.be/2cevbhEqQF4?si=VT6-35e4vifaKmq7
And finally, we visit with the eternal Queens of Summer, Sistar. Others have tried to claim the title since, but these girls remain undefeated. A nice way to bid farewell to summer as we head into fall. "I Swear" https://youtu.be/8PrNPhVexE4?si=AxWhX-ljLlps4vsU
It's not #KpopMonday in my time zone yet, but I have a few favs I want to share so I may as well space them out!
My first choice for the theme of #FlowerShower is this, by one of my first kpop loves, #NFlying! This song pleases my ears in such a good way in general, but also it showcases Hweseung's gorgeous, powerful vocals. I could listen to this chorus on repeat for days.
Another #KPopMonday has come & this week's theme is #FlowerShower. I only have 2 selections this time. (I'm recovering from surgery and some things are going well while some things are not 🙈.)
"Hwaa" by (G)I-DLE, which was the title track off their album, I Burn. The word "hwaa" has a few meanings depending on how it's read (anger, flower, bloom, burn) & the song itself is about a woman moving on from the winter ruins of a relationship to blooming again in spring. I've always loved the instrumental arrangements in this song.
A b-side off I Burn, Minnie wrote & composed "Dahlia." She's been performing it as a solo stage during their current world tour. This vid is from the Seoul stop and taken by Kismet, a Minnie fansite: https://youtu.be/-S6VjB9zVzg?si=Dl0-N3KDYNvS-Lf_
This gem came on my algorithm-provided playlist earlier this evening, and I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet! On #KPopMonday with a #zoo theme, how can we forget the true classic:
First, we head back to 2nd gen with After School's debut track, "Ah!" This was the original 5-member lineup led by my OG bias, Kahi (and her legendary abs :ablobcatbongo:): https://youtu.be/RF7bbcwqjzk
Bonus - After School's early concepts were heavily influenced by the Pussycat Dolls & I think you can see that in this stage mix: https://youtu.be/SYFWIRZZC7M
Next, "Dumb Dumb" by Somi features an MV that looks and feels like a Netflix teen drama https://youtu.be/tg2uF3R_Ozo
And for an extra, here's (G)I-DLE's cover of 4Min's "Hot Issue" (featuring legendary red-haired Soojin): https://youtu.be/EQ3c6jYcMz0
