Hey @jerry, if I were to do a say....... rules of networking explosion event. Would it set off any alarms if the bot tooted 20 or so times in a row? I mean, I could put some sleep commands in between.

@nuintari it would not trip anything automated, but it may get a few complaint reports, but if it’s a one time thing I can convince the management to look the other way

In this year of our lord 2024, someone just sent around a shared Word document with 12 tables representing the months of the year as a team calendar and asked everyone to fill in their PTO.

Not a bad weekend:

  • Got rid of some furniture we brought with us to the states almost 8 years ago
  • Went to buy some plants for the yard
  • Went for a bike ride with my wife and daughter
  • Spent quality time with my daughter at different playgrounds
  • First coat of paint for our deck

I am officially exhausted

It’s interesting that though the total number of fediverse users went up by 70000 in the past month, the number of monthly active users dropped by 60000. If I’m reading that right, 10% (130k) of all active accounts went inactive over the past month.

The sky to the north is a bit pink here in north Georgia. No clear aurora ribbons or trails, but definitely a color that is not normal

@mikej indeed. The link is more pronounced with my camera. I think I would need to drive for a while to get a better view of the norther horizon, though. Too many trees and mountains here.

A couple of great big red blooms on a dragonfruit cactus!
The tiniest new cactus paddles on a prickly pear 🥺
The fog re-forming over the beach as I walked through it was a really neat experience. Either it is foggy or not foggy usually!

Seriously, though, I’ll be spending a bunch of time at my son’s house helping him get it in shape. Tomorrow, we are replacing his hot water heater, installing a doorbell and a doorbell camera, fixing his garbage disposal, and securing the dishwasher to the cabinets. I predict that I’ll be very sore tomorrow night.

The work at my son’s new house took a bit longer than expected, but we were able to:

Fix the water dispenser on the fridge

Secure the dishwasher under the counter

Fix a leaky drain line from the dishwasher

Install a nest doorbell including the actual doorbell - one did not exist before so I had to bore through the exterior wall to run wires

Fix the broken fan on the exhaust over the stove

Replace an old leaky water heater

The water heater was by far the hardest, becuase the plumbing is copper with soldered joints and the leaky solder joint gods were not smiling on me this weekend.

Not a bad weekend. I do, however, have to say goodby to my little buddy Eevee, who is moving into her new place tonight.

@dezz yeah, my oldest son and his fiancé have a long list for me at their house, my youngest son is moving back home and I’m going to overhaul the finished basement (new flooring, paint, etc), and my wife has a long list. So yeah, I will not be bored.
