From the GOV.UK guidance, do not use maxlength on form fields:

> Using the maxlength attribute means there is no feedback to users that their text input is truncated. This is especially true where the text has been copied and pasted from elsewhere. This can cause users to accidentally provide incorrect or incomplete information.

I'm looking for any recommendations of blog posts/articles that explore the potential limits of tech or examples of or going wrong in ways that show it's limits.

Bonus points for anything that discusses use cases.

There are no end of "positive" examples, they are plastered everywhere! I'm assuming there is something a bit calmer and measured out there.

Any suggestions?

My mum called today in tears. My step dad is very ill and she couldn't get through the GP's online booking system because it wasn't working. It's Klinik Solutions - their system is utterly unfit for purpose.

It is completely inaccessible. If you click the back button you lose your whole application.

I raised all this with them months ago and it's still utterly broken. And all this forced on vulnerable people in need.

so angry about this. There are plenty of us who know how to actually design and build websites, and yet these utter cowboys get the contracts to build something broken that sick people rely on

I think the GOV.UK Design System is very close to this. Widely tested, accessible, tech-agnostic, just needs to be more theme-able
