Coming from someone who has been on several weeks of mandatory leave from work because I started self harming in public after listening to yet another fucking horror show coming out of Gaza. I had to be sent home because I was crying and hitting myself.

How do you live with yourself? I'm genuinely curious, because I can barely do it. I've had to stop listening to news in the car or I'll drive into traffic. I'm voting for Aaron Bushnell because they're far braver than me. I hope Trump has a heart attack.

The US committed genocide in Korea actually. If you think China is doing genocide, compare Xinjiang province to Gaza and see the fucking difference. Six times as many children have died in six months of war in Gaza compared to over two years of war in Ukraine, a country with 14 times the population size. Iran has done some executions, never something like this. None of the countries you've listed have committed a horror on this scale. This is unparalleled in the modern world.

You missed my point. The U.S. dropped a total of 635,000 tons of bombs (including 32,557 tons of napalm) on Korea, more than during the entire Pacific War. 2-3 million Koreans died because of US involvement from one sided massacres, starvation, and disease. The only genocide that happened was done by our side. Why are they listing "North Korea" as a country that is guilty of genocide? It's a fucking joke.

But I don't think it's okay to tune out. I'm complicit. I deserve to suffer for that. People who tune out are rejecting the responsibility they have to their victims to hear their stories and learn their names. I can't look away, I don't have that right.

Yeah, no shit. Imperialist superexplotation of the rest of the world has allowed the US to enrich itself beyond any empire in the history of the world. That comes at a cost! The US is great if you live in the US, but is it great for the children that mine the US's cobalt? Is it great for its prison population, which is the largest in the world? Is it great for the massive undocumented labor force that grows the US's food?

The US "greatness" exists as a great expense for everyone else on Earth. The US can only be great if everyone else suffers.

Why do you make the conscious decision to not eat meat/animal products?

Because someone has to hurt and/or kill an animal for me to give me that product. Statistically, people who work in the industry have higher rates of violent crime, drug addiction, suicide, and domestic abuse. I couldn't force people to do something like that for me anymore.

Do you have negative feelings towards those who raise their own animals for food, such as those who raise chickens for eggs or cattle for milk, and otherwise treat the animals ethically?

Hypothetically I guess someone with a rescue hen that collects her eggs is fine-ish, as long as they don't kill her when she's too old to lay. I wouldn't partake in chicken period, but I guess it's whatever.

But for cows, it's never ethical. They aren't like chickens, they don't just produce milk constantly. It requires impregnation, and even if the farmer has a bull (where did the bull come from? was he rented from another farm that's going to kill him?) and isn't raping her for insemination purposes, that milk isn't really for us. It's for her baby! And she knows!

The process of milking requires that you mess with her instincts and her head by letting the calf feed for a moment, then tying up her calf nearby so that she lets her milk down so the farmer can steal her milk. The farmer will need to keep reintroducing the calf so that she keeps letting her milk down. She'll probably need to be restrained too because she doesn't want us to steal her milk!

The rape and molestation of cows is wrong and I look down on anyone that does that shit.

Are there other reasons for not eating meat that I’m not considering?

Back to my reason for being vegan, it's so important to remember the worker when considering this. Have you ever killed an animal? It's horrible. A person that has to do that all the time will get seriously psychologically wounded and it's lethal. If you don't care about non-human animals, consider the human animal. Someone had to kill that animal for you and that has consequences.

Also, pandemics. Wherever COVID came from (probably bushmeat) we're staring down the barrel of a bird flu pandemic and it's spreading among cows right now. It won't be long before that makes the leap to humans, and it will be 100% because of the animal industry.

When did you choose to switch to a vegan lifestyle, what (if any) was the “catalyst”?

Pandemic, because I was home all the time and finally learned to cook. I was always sympathetic to veganism but ultimately too lazy to really put in any effort, but having those months to myself to pick up cooking as a hobby opened up the gate for me to cut out animal products.

I feel super guilty for procrastinating on that shit for so long, it was not hard at all and I could have done it at any time. Ugh.

What are some challenges that you have dealt with when it comes to this lifestyle?

Gelatin. That's made from bone marrow, and it's not listed in the allergens section with milk and/or eggs on the nutrition information.

Why do you believe there is a continued stigma around veganism in many physical/internet communities?

I suspect there are a lot of people who feel attacked by our veganism because they ultimately agree with us, but haven't committed and feel guilty that they haven't made that extra step to change their own life. We cause cognitive dissonance, attacking vegans is a cope.

Working in healthcare is dehumanizing and traumatic, workers cope with this in often unhealthy ways. It's like this:

The overworked hospital staff sees your veganism as a direct insult because they are bloodmouths, so they lash out. As far as they're concerned you're rubbing your moral superiority in their faces by asking them to put in extra work to accommodate you. So, they get petty revenge to "put you in your place".

Being a bloodmouth requires constant personal upkeep in the face of veganism. This helps them protect their fragile egos and sooth their guilt.

It's cool how you just take them at their word.

But my point is that none of this is being done efficiently. Instead, middlemen siphon money from the project to pad their pockets and stretch out the timelines for completion. I won't be surprised if some of these projects go over budget, over time, or need additional funding.

Wake me up when these projects complete. Then we can look at how much they really cost and how long it really took and how much they really produce.

The money does not go directly to production, that's the goal post. It goes through a dozen people's hands before the ground is ever broken on one of these projects, and every one of those hands takes their cut to pad their pockets. That was my point.

I don't think my chances are good under either President, but I also think Democrats are more likely to fight back if Trump wins. Trump saw the largest protest movement in American history. If the trans concentration camps happen under him then people will actually fight back. If they happen under Biden then people will just be told to vote harder next time so we can close the concentration camps! 🤮

Biden won't stop my red state from making me illegal. I can see it already! Red state declares being transgender to be a sex crime, it goes to the Supreme Court where they rule 5-4 in favor of the red state, and now I either flee or get rounded up into the camps.

And all you will do is use this as campaign material to encourage people to vote for Democrats. You won't help me, Biden won't help me, I'll just be detransitioned in prison and probably murdered. This could happen in Biden's next term and nothing would change.

Instead, how about you start thinking outside the ballot box and get ready to do something that actually matters?

First, Democrats would actually oppose genocide if Trump was president. The largest protest movement in American history happened under Trump! Under Biden, Democrats just stay home and scold anyone who protests for hurting Biden's election chances.

Second, Trump is a fucking moron. He'll fuck it up. Trump would alienate Israel even more, turning it into a pariah state. Trump would weaken and isolate the US hegemon even further, driving more and more countries into China's arms. Trump might even trigger the collapse of the US itself, the collapse of NATO, the collapse of ECOWAS, the collapse of ASEAN, thus freeing the world of the Great Satan's empire. Imagine Chinese electric car factories in Mexico. Inshallah~

EDIT Oh, third, because I guess you were confused and I should clarify. I don't know Trump will be better! That's why I'm not voting for him. I'm voting Dem downticket and writing Aaron Bushnell in for President, because Aaron already cast the most important vote this election. Trump might be worse and my predictions about how he will fail might be wrong, but Biden is already doing genocide and trade war and letting red states do whatever they want to people like me. People in Gaza are going to be murdered regardless of which person is elected in the US. OTOH, LGBTQ+ people in the US will continue to have legal protections if Biden gets re-elected, and definitely won’t if Trump gets elected.

Unless red states and the Supreme Court decide to take away those protections under Biden's second term. Do you think Biden would stop them?

I didn't "let" Trump in the first time? I voted and donated and then he stole the election because this is a shithole country where the candidate that loses the popular vote can become President anyway. Half the presidents in my lifetime lost the popular vote! It's a joke.

And guess what? It's too late. The fascists already stole the Court because of Mitch McConnell deciding he didn't want to play by the rules anymore. It's over. 6-3! It can't get easier, they can win every Court case they ever want and nothing fucking matters. Biden is "trying" but because he keeps playing by the rules he will always lose. He'll keep "trying" while I'm marched to my death and that's not fucking good enough.

If my state passed a law that said it is legal to hunt down and murder trans people, I'd be dead before Biden did jack shit about it.
