@davidho All other cars on the road would have to be like this or it would be dangerous (if hit). But I like it, although very little room for passengers or large dogs. Where would groceries go?
@jerry Serious Q, and forgive me if you've discussed this elsewhere and I missed it, but how do you see your retirement impacting the way this "little" corner of the fediverse is managed, if at all?
@coxn its a great question. My intention is to invest more time on better maintaining the instances and starting to contribute to some of the open source projects behind them, like mastodon, mbin, and others.
JUST IN: Judge #CANNON has denied #JackSmith's gag order request in FL, saying prosecutors' failure to confer with defense before filing it was "wholly lacking in substance and professional courtesy." #TrumpIndictment#documents#legal
@GottaLaff My understanding from a trial attorney friend is that he knew she'd deny and now he has cause to challenge her as a (compromised) inexperienced and under-qualified judge for a case so important to our national security.
My client, um, I mean, the defendant, may well be trying to get people killed, but you, sir, are being discourteous in asking him to stop trying to get people killed.
just realized i've had the mollywhite.net domain for over 10 years(!!)
related sneak peek into an upcoming piece: i firmly believe that if you're going to spend money on one thing online it should be a domain, particularly as online identity gets more fragmented. as platforms come and go, you can always find me there.
@SpiceMerchant@tabletopminis love this dude.
"What you got in the box there?"
"What box?"
"Come on, the box on the stick your holding"
"I don't know what you're..."
"It's another severed head isn't it!"
"Aw don't ruin the surprise"
The number of active Mastodon accounts continues to drop, including here on Infosec.exchange, however it’s dropping slower than elsewhere. According to https://fedidb.org/software/mastodon we are the number 4 (soon to be number 3) most active instance. I’m not sure whether to be happy or sad.
@liaizon Regarding moderation, I plan to add a special account that trusted folks in the community will be able to DM with commands to take action, for example, unlist a server for being a test server.
There will be an audit log, and will be compatible with Mastodon, Pixelfed and any DM compatible server!
I’m emerging from my social media hiatus to share recent comments from Ken Burns. I’ve chatted with him a few times over the years, always to my benefit. He’s very worried about American democracy — I think with good reason.
Here’s a video excerpt from his speech at Brandeis:
I decided to check if #Linux gaming distros gave you an edge in terms of performance, compared to something #Ubuntu based, and of a specific gaming distro would perform better than another.
Since I had a @tuxedocomputers mini ITX desktop on hand to review, I decided to combine the two, so I checked whether gaming distros are better for gaming, with 4 game benchmarks I ran on the Atlas S:
@thelinuxEXP@tuxedocomputers Did you document these tests, or just make a video? I ask because I do not consume videos and never go to YouTube, but I do read articles.
Ich arbeite an einem (sehr) ausführlichen Artikel über Browser. Dieser wird auch eine Tabelle mit empfohlenen Browsern enthalten. Anbei eine Vorschau. Die Tabelle wird sich sicher noch ändern.
@kuketzblog
Do people who are not oceanographers know that elephant seals have been helping us collect temperature and salinity data in inhospitable areas of the ocean for the last 20 years?
@actuallyautistic#actuallyautistic
Read an article recently that claimed autistic individuals are less likely to succumb to marketing and impulse buying. I think this is true about myself.
I am aware that AuDHD can often work against this, and make shopping a dreadful experience because of the push and pull of "wanting" but not "needing" something. I'd love to hear y'all's experiences/opinions.
@Kellyshenanigans@chevalier26@actuallyautistic I'm in a similar situation so sometimes feel it's okay to buy something unscheduled after so many years of being abstemious. Recently I blew £70 on two (gorgeous) pans that I hadn't planned for, but I hadn't bought a new pan in at least 10 years and really needed them so although at that moment in time it was an impulse buy (they were a special at the supermarket and greeted me one Friday afternoon) they weren't leftfield or unnecessary.
@chevalier26@actuallyautistic if I notice your ad is an ad, I hate you, if you tried to target it at me, I swear vendetta* against you, loud jarring bullshit, I'm willing to look up who to resort your ad to, BUT if you make me laugh like zocdoc or actually want to click your contextual ads like Pinterest, fine, I guess.
*Should I find myself in the market I actively seek your competitors, if none exist I make it myself if possible, I also actively proselytize against your product
