BC United accused the NDP government of having the worst emissions record in Canada Tuesday.

But Climate Minister George Heyman said the claim is based on inaccurate data from the federal government. Andrew MacLeod reports.

“The database makes it dramatically easier to document, calculate, and visually demonstrate the growing chasm between the urgent demands of climate reality and the continued reckless and intentional growth of oil and gas production,” said Carroll Muffet, President and CEO of the Center for International Environmental Law .

To hit its climate targets, needs a “barrage of investments” to modernise industry and reduce the carbon footprint from heating.

“The crisis-related slump in production weakens the German economy. If emissions are subsequently relocated abroad, then nothing has been achieved for the climate.”

Only 15% of the reduction in 2023 constitutes “permanent emissions savings”.

A journalist asked me recently whether has decreased or even disappeared.
Sure, only that they re-branded themselves.
Some switched to become - why bother, we can’t do anything anyway. Some others are selling the ‚positive‘ effects of on welfare of people.
All the same and they might even still find their audience.

Regardless, curbing emissions is the only way to stop .

The UN claims to be almost entirely climate neutral, yet that claim is based on buying millions of carbon offset credits that experts say do little to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, The New Humanitarian and Mongabay found in a year-long investigation.
