Taking advantage of the quiet #IWD2024 Friday evening to do some reading about digital divide issues affecting women transitioning from incarceration (two articles from one research study)
"our research team has conducted a research study to understand challenges facing women recently released from incarceration in terms of accessing and using technology and how educational programs can be developed to support their technology learning."
Since I started hearing about International Women’s Day — ironically when I was working at Amazon — it felt like hollow capitalist nonsense (probably related to me being at Amazon) and I mostly have given it little thought. Of course it turns out IWD was born in women demanding better working conditions, social support for mothers, equality and peace.
We can reach our full potential only if we use all our talent and diversity.
Gender equality is a core principle of the EU, but it is not a reality yet.
To make sure changes happen, the #vdLCommission:
🟣 set rules on pay transparency,
🟣 adopted the “Women on boards” directive,
🟣 adopted the first ever legislation on combating gender violence,
Together, we are working tirelessly to achieve gender equality.
It’s International Women’s Day and 19 girls are still in the hands of brutal #Hamas terrorists in #Gaza. We CANNOT forget them.
Here is what you can do to help:
Take a photo of yourself with a sign that says #BringBackOurGirls and post it with the hashtag.
