Larry Coryell - Coryell. If you own one Coryell album it should be this one (Fairyland is also amazing). Bernard Perdie on drums. Ron Carter bass on two tracks. Coryell in Hendrix mode for a lot of this album. Psychedelic jazz guitar masterpiece. Still a bargain bin album at record stores. @vinylrecords

good morning! Cannonball Adderley - Somethin’ Else @vinylrecords

I love Cannonball Adderley and in particular his collaborations with his brother Nat, but on this instead we get Miles Davis on probably the best record where he’s credited as session musician.

- if i'd been a first wave pink floyd fan, i'm pretty sure i would've been more into kevin ayers than post-"piper" floyd while waiting for syd to get his act (briefly) together. @vinylrecords @Corry342

Stanley Turrentine and The Three Sounds - "Blue Hour" (1961)

One of the crown jewels of the catalog has been reissued. I love my mono original of this, scratches and all, but this new stereo reissue is terrific. Ideal rainy day music.

always sounds to me like so much of 90s West Coast tracks its sound and aesthetic to Roy Ayers. e.g., Dr Dre only sampled this track once, for a Detox track, but I can't help suspecting he took much more from it for his sound.

the "my life, my life, my life" tag was true Cali staple, used by Tupac, Ice Cube, Mc Eiht ("my life, my life, my life, with a tech nine").

Roy Ayers Ubiquity - Everybody Loves the Sunshine @vinylrecords

Record cover of Roy Ayers Ubiquity - Everybody Loves the Sunshine, with a photograph of the artist in a yellow t-shirt. The music playing is the title track, with a low bass grove, a piano riff, and a high-pitched continuous synthesiser sound. The lyrics start with "my life, my life, my life, in the sunshine".

Marcelle de Manziarly: Chamber Works

Cecilia Zilliacus, Kati Raitinen, Bengt Forsberg, Peter Friis Johansson

It's been out since April, but this is only the 2nd time I have listened to it. I must not have been paying attention the first time because this is an outstanding album. 5 stars.

Highly recommend to @classicalmusic group

The jukebox in my head started to play a classic this morning so I'm Therapy?'s Infernal Love.

Damn, these guys have been with me during all the ups and downs since I first heard Troublegum as a teenager in -94, never once losing the appeal.

#NowPlaying - sonic youth & jim o'rourke are heroes for so many reasons. the SYR series dropped me into expansive new worlds of #improv when i got #1-3 not long after they came out in 1998. the changing silverscapes of "radio-amatoroj" still bring me to that place. also heroes because they were unafraid to put nearly 30 minutes of #guitar #jams per side. https://sonicyoutharchive.bandcamp.com/album/syr-3-invito-al-cielo @vinylrecords

    - pure '90s comfort food. micro-algorithmically: a little bit of twang, some of camper van beethoven's lightness, the less-outside parts of elephant 6, or maybe just the beatles-y parts of ween. also dutch, but singing in english. https://bingotrappers.bandcamp.com/album/sierra-nevada-album @vinylrecords

    - a ground zero for so much, but why so many cowrites for kevin ayers & so few lead vocals? is it like the neil-young's-voice-was-too-weird-for-the-springfield thing or just cuz ayers was the new guy? and how many steps between "we did it again" & oneida's "sheets of easter"? @Corry342 @vinylrecords
