Four days into my trip to Japan and I've seen only one other white person in a mask- an elderly woman in a baggy blue.

The locals generally seem intrigued at the sight of me in a KN95, quite a few raised eyebrows and some kind masked smiles. About 99% of the white guys (presumably tourists as well) have been openly sneering and rolling their eyes. The global West has failed at disease mitigation so spectacularly it's embarrassing.

> AABP Decides to Reference Cattle Disease as Bovine Influenza A Virus (BIAV)
https://www.bovinevetonline.com/news/industry/aabp-decides-reference-cattle-disease-bovine-influenza-virus-biav

"Because this infection in cattle is not the same as highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), after thoughtful consideration and discussion with many experts, the AABP will now refer to this as Bovine Influenza A Virus (BIAV), which more accurately depicts it"

Getting 2-4x emails a day from recruiters in the space and a common theme has emerged-- the expectations of an entire team (writing technical specs, clinical SME, configuring software, validating workflows, testing scripts, documenting process) all rest on the shoulders of a single consultant. Simply absurd.

Good luck with all that lolz... Flooding the space with a pandemic virus and then unable to staff specialized roles is most definitely not a "me" problem 😑

Is there a commonly used technical term for when an entire population is clinically-to-subclinically immune dysregulated and serving as incubators, an evolutionary breeding ground for more virulent and/or transmissive strains of commonly encountered secondary and opportunistic infections ?

I know the slang term ("we're effed"), just wondering if there's a specific technical term people are using to summarize the putative phenomenon.

@BE that occurred to me, but I always think of the LE as a precursor, setting the stage that leads to an evolutionary jump start for opportunistic pathogens.

Wait a second... I might have it... I'm feeling something coming up...

Just what I bump into.

I am not researching this ludicrous topic when most of the things we catch we catch through the air.

Took 10 minutes to drop a short message to Senator Patty Murray to emphasize the need for our federal government to address , as the Senate Committee on , Education, Labor, and Pensions met today with the intention of Addressing Long COVID: Advancing and Improving Patient Care. If you also have 10 minutes to spare, please write your Congresscritters too! They need to hear from their constituents, not just lobbyists.

The presence of an in serum/plasma is not a definitive indication of against . HIV and HCV patients produce plenty of anti-HIV and anti-HCV antibodies, but these don't actually protect the host against coinfection with other genotypes/subtypes or disease. Same applies to
