Remember all the times Elon Musk said Tesla is so amazing for the environment? The company is being sued for violating the Clean Air Act hundreds of times in recent years by emitting harmful pollutants from its Fremont factory into nearby neighborhoods.

@parismarx We have got to find a way to stop people and companies who can rack up 112 air pollution violations in 5 years and be sued by 25 separate local governments for pollution.

It's truly astounding that people who were caught with some marijuana 3 times are in prison for life (and they shouldn't be), but a corporation that is killing people faces no noticeable accountability.

@molly0xfff If we could harvest the complete lack of self-awareness of the crypto industry and turn it into electricity, we could probably power human civilization for a million years. We wouldn't though, because it would somehow create 100x the pollution created by fossil fuels today.

@molly0xfff That definitely reads like "person" wasn't his first word choice, and that's not too surprising for a crypto-bro.

Elon Musk is betting Tesla’s future on using self-driving fantasies to boost the share price instead of building a real car business. He just gutted the teams working on the Supercharger network (right as other companies are adopting it!) and new vehicles.

Apple is cutting Vision Pro production as it fails to meet sales targets.

Analysts expected it to sell 700-800k units in 2024, but it could now be as low as 400k. A lower cost model could now be pushed beyond 2025, if it ever arrives.

@parismarx I find it hard to believe that 400k people have enough money to buy it AND don't get immediately motion sick when they put it on. I'm hopeful that VR will just die so that we can get back to technology that's actually useful.

Free PR tip, don’t use light coloured links on a light coloured background. Make the Steam page link strong and prominent. This is a bad example:

I almost missed it, thinking it was another random PR email that didn’t even include it.

@gamingonlinux Those are the dangers of webdevs using dark mode.

In a document labeled “these are all random probably bad ideas that aren’t vetted,” convicted fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried considered going on Tucker Carlson’s show to “come out as a republican” and “come out against the woke agenda.”

@parismarx have you tried using the progressive web app? That's what I use on android. It should work on iOS too.

My Uber driver was on insta watching reels the entire hour+ drive, and then missed the exit at rush hour and added 20 minutes to the trip. AITA if I rate him down for it? I get bored too, but like, damn.

@hacks4pancakes I so hate the damage someone can do to a life just by not giving a perfect score. I've thought about how we might fix this and make a 5 star scale have 5 actual values rather than 5 stars or fail. I'm pretty sure I'd need to go get a sociology or psychology degree to do it right, though.
