Why judge people over their choice of beverage?

Why can't we all drink (or eat or be...) whatever we please without derogatory comments being made? What kind of a low is that?

Seriously.

original_reader ,

So the ad wants me to follow the example of a man leaving his wife and children crying in despair?

original_reader ,

You are right on all counts.

Just not sure if "easy" is the operative word here.

original_reader ,

Installed it. Liking it. Indeed beautifully designed.

There's a lot going on and much data to be seen. Nice! Not airways easy to quickly see what I am looking for, but that might be just me not being used to it. Has a bit to catch up to meet the features of Breezy Weather, but I don't expect that from a new so and you have SO much potential here!

Am I missing the dew point or is that not implemented yet?

The animations might be a tad slow, though beautiful to look at.

Can't say much more. Will use Overmorrow (fantastic name!) for sure to test it more and see where it goes.

Thank you. Awesome job!

original_reader ,

Actually, yes.

Infinite diversity in infinite combinations.

And what is diversity but a celebration of differences?

A backup and restore utility which allows me to export/restore system settings and installed apps. This would make a reinstalll much less time consuming and allow installs of the same configuration on other computers.

As always, please ensure you stop your Jellyfin server and take a full backup before upgrading!

Now, if only there was a simple, built-in way to backup/export and restore/import all settings and other data, so that all platforms could do this easily, without having to search the internet for which folders to back up...

FYI, this is the best we have atm (which is pretty terrible). Please correct me if there is a better way:

Jellyfin Docs: Migrating

This has been discussed before and you might be right.

Python Backup Script (Good luck if you're not a developer)

... and so forth. No good answers so far.

original_reader ,

Sure. But what if Docker is not available on a machine? What if the import should happen on a Linux machine coming from Windows? What if I want to sync two installations on different OSs?

I know it's all doable, but not easy, let alone foolproof. It's so easy to install, but genuinely not easy to keep safe without tech knowledge.

original_reader ,

Yeah, everyone I see it, I feel sorry for it.

And the joke is actually good... because it's the truth.

original_reader , (edited )

As ridiculous as this story is, Firefox does kill my tabs way too often. At least on my PCs.

original_reader ,

Didn't know about that one. Why, there's no objection in adding more to the collection right here. 😊

original_reader ,

Are you seriously asking?

If so, here the answer:
It is usually used as a polite response when someone thanks you for doing something. It's a way to acknowledge their gratitude.

I still hear it a lot. Together with so many alternatives, like "no problem", " happy to help", "don't mention it", " glad to assist", "anytime", "it was nothing", "my pleasure", " sure thing"... and I'm sure there are more.

original_reader ,

It's a paywalled article. So now I sadly will never know which frontend to choose.

The world is facing the highest number of violent conflicts since the Second World War and 2 billion people — a quarter of humanity — live in places affected by such conflict. ( press.un.org )

A sad fact. I didn't realize it is this bad. Currently it is mostly escalation after escalation. What way out is there?

original_reader ,

Is there somewhere a guide in how to get started with gaming on Linux?

original_reader ,

What of Indie games that I download from the developer's page or other stores?

Also, how is the update process of Mint these days for make versions? Is it a complete reinstall of the system? I might opt for a rolling distro for that purpose.

original_reader ,

I read that a lot. Somehow I'm not into adding all my games into the Steam client, though I am not totally opposed if there's no other option. That's due to my inherent trust issues with gaming platforms.

Might give Lutris a shot.

I generally agree.

Nonetheless, Vivaldi does outclass the clones.

Digital "ownership".

"Ubisoft is determined to take things one step further to stamp out any attempts to continue playing it past its expiry date."

original_reader ,

It's not about this particular game.

It's about setting a precedent for games you do care about.

original_reader ,

Blaming the player goes a bit far, true.

That said, the sad truth is that companies only react when it affects their bottom line.

original_reader , (edited )

Not in this case, seeing that progress is stored online.

Who says that the game you care about tomorrow won't do this next? Why be against an action/not care about something that can only benefit players now and in the long term?

original_reader ,

We don't care if you have fun. You already paid for it.

original_reader , (edited )

Nothing to add. This hits the nail on the head.

Looking at recent developments, we will have a few more years of pretending all is normal before it becomes so bad that the looming existential catastrophes will be undeniable for most, if not all.

Then it'll be too late.

Probably already is.

original_reader ,

It's almost as if companies have gone a bit overboard with advertising. Huh. Didn't see that coming...

original_reader ,

The worst thing is when there's no socket for my phone charger on the side of the bed where I sleep.

Nothing compares to that level of misery!

original_reader ,

Where is that study? Does anyone have a link?

original_reader ,

Until you are asked to elaborate in the interview.

original_reader ,

To save you all a click and some time: the source says that the report is bogus.

original_reader , (edited )

Does this apply to Europe too?

Has this been cracked, meaning people using these features bypassing the paywall?

original_reader ,

Thanks.

That leaves the remaining question. Is there a cracker scene oh the automobile market?

original_reader ,

Has that actually happened? You sure you didn't click some "I agree" button after an update?

Windows has never set a new default browser for me without asking. Sure, it asked a few times, but unless I agreed, no settings were changed.

original_reader ,

Hold on.

There's reasons to kill someone‽

Bug: Waypoint Icons / Map or Compass Markers disappear after visiting own freighter

Every time I board my own freighter, all the navigation markers in the system disappear while I am looking at them. Those that are out of sight remain visible. My freighter is fully stocked with all stations and lots of decorative items, rooms and so forth. Rumour has it that this has something to do with the workstations and...
