Une mise à jour Osmand qui fait sauter des paramètres configurés. À retrouver comment désactiver les 2,5D et 3D gadgets inutiles… #Osmand@openstreetmap
#MagicEarth as online SatNav, #OSMAnd as offline navigation. For train/bus #Offi. If I search for a chippie or something, #gmapswv . All of them available at #FDroid store
@pre@mxtthxw yep, I use open street maps data on #osmand app - works really well without a sim and with wifi properly turned off (no sniffing)
Maybe the last few metres in a very urban area aren't as accurate as with wifi and sim but I havent noticed
On the very few times i want live traffic data I use #waze on my 'disconnected' phone by enabling wifi and connecting by hotspot to my main phone
Works really well and I find it easier with separate devices for different purposes - YMMV
I think I've found my battery drain issue on my #Fairphone4 whilst running #Calyxos . I was pointed to downloading an app called cpuinfo on #fdroid and it showed all 8 cores at Max. Tracked it down to #OSMAND . I force stopped it and all cores drop to less than half. So I guess I'll not be using that app for a while.

QT @pluralistic - Hard to overstate how enshittified Google Maps has become. Went looking for my local locksmith. Gmaps shows 20+ fake locksmith referral scam outlets and doesn't even register the real locksmith, despite being fully visible in Street View.
Instead, a red pin on the shop identifies it as a fake locksmith scammer. The real locksmith - which has been there SINCE 1942 (!!) and is a verified merchant - doesn't even show up.
When editing #OpenStreetMap on the go, @everydoor is my hands-down favorite, but I'd hesitate recommending it for more new mappers.
I've been playing with #OsmGo just now, and really like how easy it is, maybe even for new contributors.
Plus, it's a progressive web app that runs in a browser, or installable in your device: https://osmgo.com , so this also seems to be a great candidate tool to introduce as a friendly editor for @openstreetmap mapping parties for new users.
@MapAmore
I use @openstreetmap a lot, via #OSMAnd+, and I'd love to give back to the map commons. The biggest problems I see are not with the basic data (streets etc), since the NZ govt's own map data is released under CC license, and updates to it are quickly imported into #OSM.
Rather what I see is outdated info about what can be found at a given address. Any advice of helping to update that kind of data? Is it part of OSM or other data commons used by OSMAnd+?

In 2024, the variety and quality of open source Android apps is greater than ever - thanks to the development teams and to #fdroid app store.
What is your favourite #fdroid app? Would be interested if I can discover a few new cool apps, I missed until now. Thank you already for sharing! @fdroid
Alternative to Google maps?
Are there any good apps to use as a replacement for google maps? It's the only google service I'm still using.
