    There was a time when was the choice in creating a new browser. It ended after came into the picture.

    I don't know why, I can't find information about it, but if I'll take a guess:

    1. Something changed in Firefox that it's no longer a good choice to fork and create new browsers.
    2. Chromium made it very easy to build a new browser on top of it.

    The only remaining Firefox forks are , , , ( ), , GNU IceCat, and Tor Browser.

    So, what happened, really? Anyone with the knowledge? Was it really as simple as #2 (see above)?

    OMG. Firefox User kept 7.4k tabs open for more than 24 months 😱 the browser's ability to handle extreme tab hoarding is amazing 🤩 https://x.com/sodiumpen/status/1785152049811730943?s=46

    This is how much I hate Chromium-based browsers, I left my frustration as notes.

    /* BGN: Dark Age (“spiritual successor of IE6”) engines like Chromium! BOO! */
     @supports not (xx: xx) {
     …
     }
    /* END: Dark Age (“spiritual successor of IE6”) engines like Chromium! BOO! */

    is the new , come back home to !

    LOL!

    @nixCraft I have 42 open on one profile and 51 on other. Normally I'd be running also third profile that has 20-30 tabs open, but today I'm running light 😆

    Long time to be in the one place, but working on some of the most exciting updates at the moment.

    If you are on Nightly and want to test something new, flip browser.urlbar.secondaryActions.featureGate = true to enable, love to hear feedback.

    125.0.3 is out now to fix a text corruption bug when dragging text containing Unicode characters on systems, an issue with an extra blank tab with an address of https://0.0.0.1 appearing when attempting to launch Firefox when it's already running, an issue that could cause incorrect font selection in some situations for users with the Japanese locale set, and two other bugs https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/125.0.3/releasenotes/

    Yo - adding PDF edit capability is pretty sweet. How did that not make a bigger splash when 124 came out? SO many people end up at sketchy sites or worse trying to save a PDF form or edit a PDF document. This is such a big deal!

    Not sure, why both of them are not getting any further updates? Have they already given up? Time to switch back to vanilla ?

    125.0.2 is out now to revert the new feature that proactively blocks downloads from potentially untrustworthy URLs as it caused unexpected problems with downloading files in some situations. It will be re-enabled in a future release once it works as expected! https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/125.0.2/releasenotes/

    @molly0xfff This may be more than you want to do, but just in case...

    I do most of my browsing in Firefox, which lets me set many preferences to an insane level via their about:config feature.

    I set the layout.frame_rate preference to 1 in my most-used browser profile. You would likely need to use a different browser or browser profile to view videos, and I do so. (In Firefox, about:profiles lets me make profiles.)

    Oh look, a variant of Firefox that isn't insufferably obstinate, refusing to fit into your desktop environment for absolutely no valid reason...

    Three cheers for @Waterfox !!!

    (It's so nice to have an application actually respect your environment and preferences, and not forcefully impose its dreadful, opinionated, convoluted mobile-on-desktop on you against your wishes)

    I've known about Waterfox for many years and even used it as an additional browser back in my macOS days, but it may be seriously worth using it again and ditching forever.
