On apartheid Israel

When apartheid South Africa came under growing international pressure at the UN, the General Assembly initiated boycotts.

It suspended South Africa, stripping it of its Member State rights & privileges.

The apartheid regime "could no longer be seated, speak or vote at the General Assembly & other UN organs.

"Apartheid South Africa changed course because it became a pariah & isolated regime"

"Biden's claim that Hamas’s Oct 7 attacks were “driven by ancient desire to wipe out the Jewish people" is ahistorical and dangerous. In fact, Jewish history shows that antisemitism is a Western problem"
"Biden’s historically ignorant, wildly antisemitic statements fly in the face of Jewish anti-Zionists, and this dangerous linkage between antisemitism and anti-Zionism ignores the fact that...most Zionists are fundamentalist Christians"

If you're looking for something to reflect upon to commemorate this anniversary, I hope you will take a look at this documentary made by Israelis, about an Israeli researcher who looked into the Nakba events of a particular town, Tantura, and what he found. It was an Official Selection of the 2022 Sundance film festival.

It is not an easy watch. But a very necessary one.

my 2cents on protest:

i think they are LOW yield for the amount of work/money/arrest. With 150 colleges protesting, ONE school, Brown U, has agreed, not to divest from , but to hold a vote to divest SIX MONTHS from now.

i think the 1000 students at Columbia protesting shoulda went to the Admin building, got transfer forms, filled them out, handing them in together, saying; we will take our $66,000,000 to a school that doesnt invest in genocide next year, will that be Columbia?

"{at least seven State Dept bureaus} have advised Sec of State Antony Blinken that they do not find "credible or reliable" Israel's assurances that it is using U.S.-supplied weapons in accordance with international humanitarian law, according to an internal State Department memo reviewed by Reuters.
Blinken must report to Congress by May 8 whether he finds credible Israel's assurances that its use of U.S. weapons does not violate U.S. or international law"
