“Based” isn’t the word I’d use.

SulaymanF ,

Someone will be blamed, if you carry it out then you share the blame.

SulaymanF ,

He announced it as part of a tax break scam, then let the project die.

Nearly 75% of journalists killed in 2023 died in Israel’s war on Gaza: CPJ ( www.aljazeera.com )

Seventy-two of the 99 journalists killed worldwide in 2023 were Palestinians reporting on Israel’s war on Gaza, making those 12 months the deadliest for the media in almost a decade, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ)....

SulaymanF ,

That’s Poe’s Law of the internet. Without an /s tag we don’t know if you’re sarcastic or exteme.

SulaymanF ,

She thinks that the public is mad that animals die on a farm. No, she is not grasping the fact that she killed animals unnecessarily and pointlessly.

SulaymanF ,

No.

Reporting “Trump wants to deport millions of people” is considered a bad story by many but actually viewed as a good thing by plenty of Americans, which is why the “negative” press coverage was to Trump’s benefit as free media for his message.

You won’t find anyone viewing Noem euthanizing puppies and goats as a positive.

SulaymanF ,

Iraq was a secular country with the best healthcare in the region. The US war made electricity and water no longer available 24/7 and allowed a wave of fundamentalism in. Pretending it was broken before the war is ignorance.

SulaymanF ,

First, negotiations are not yet over, so they’re hoping courts overturn the ban.

Second, TikTok is very popular outside the US too, though 40% of ad revenue is in the US. They’d survive.

SulaymanF ,

China does the same.

Hamas official says group would lay down its arms if an independent Palestinian state is established ( apnews.com )

A top Hamas political official told The Associated Press the Islamic militant group is willing to agree to a truce of five years or more with Israel and that it would lay down its weapons and convert into a political party if an independent Palestinian state is established along pre-1967 borders.

SulaymanF ,

Yes also don’t forget that Fatah immediately led a coup against them, with public support and arms from Israel and support from US.

Google fires 28 employees after protest over Israel cloud contract ( www.theverge.com )

Google fired 28 employees in connection with sit-in protests at two of its offices this week, according to an internal memo obtained by The Verge. The firings come after 9 employees were suspended and then arrested in New York and California on Tuesday....

SulaymanF ,

Google PRIDES itself on progressivism and diversity. From transgender visibility to veganism. Google showered Ukrainian and Israeli employees with support and gave them a platform, but Palestinian supporters were left out. Say Ukrainians are dying and google will support you and even donate for you. Protest Google’s military contract that kills Palestinian civilians and violates the company ethics policies and you get fired?

This will blemish google’s reputation for a long time to come. IBM is still in the history books as helping the Nazis.

SulaymanF , (edited )

We all know that’s inconsistent. Let’s start with the fact that if this was just about money, Google wouldn’t be investing money on expensive like green initiatives or large donations to nonprofits.

If employees wanted to take time off to grieve for the LGBT deaths at the Pulse nightclub shooting, the company would have supported them. Would they have done the same for people grieving over dead Palestinian children, or fire them for not meeting their work requirements or ‘disrupting business’? Would Google fire employees who staged a sit-in over anti-Semitism in the workplace?

Google broke their corporate ethics by allying with a military for a lucrative contract; employees SHOULD be calling them out on it.

SulaymanF ,

“We absolutely need to have the last word!”

SulaymanF ,

Not this again. This is based on the original Persian, which is a mistranslated figure of speech. In Persian language it means down with America, it’s not talking about actual deaths. In Persian, they even say death to potatoes.

SulaymanF ,

Especially? Come on. There’s 2 billion Muslims out there and Muslim majority countries have a lower murder rate than non-Muslim majority countries. Get out of here with your bigoted stereotypes.

SulaymanF ,

Only if done in the recipient’s language.

When Bush said there should be a crusade against terrorism, it’s not his fault if the Arabic speaking media used the word for the historic Crusades.

And as for the chanting in Dearborn, it was one nut job chanting and everyone from the mayor to president Biden condemned it.

SulaymanF ,

Christian-majority countries don’t rape? Oh honey, you have a lot to learn about the world.

Jamaica and Uganda have the worst murder rates of LGBT in the world, what religion are most Jamaicans?

You’re overgeneralizing billions of people with false stereotypes. Majority of the world’s 2 BIllion Muslims live in democracies. Most of those democracies have elected women as presidents and prime ministers, has America yet? Stop insisting your stereotypes are real and actually go and see the world and check. You’ll find out you’re wrong.

SulaymanF ,

NOBODY is raping people for a religious reason. No country legalizes that, not even the Taliban. Is that what you think is happening? No wonder you’re insisting on such blind hate. Please educate yourself. Peace.

SulaymanF ,

Every religion and every ideology and political party has extremists, but they’re condemned by the mainstream. It’s a problem with humanity. Your community has extremists too but I don’t define you by it. If you take 2,000,000,000 people of course you will have Nobel Prize winners and a few violent criminals, but trying to tar us all with the same brush is a pretty high level of bigotry.

SulaymanF ,

When you have 2,000,000,000 people, everything happens at a high level. The number of rapes in China is crazy high compared to America because of how big of a population difference there is. Your problem is you assume that this is somehow condoned instead of being a literal CRIME in every single Muslim country. You will not find a Muslim leader who defends killing women. If you cannot see logic past your bigotry then I can’t help you. Peace.

SulaymanF ,

You’re showing me an ARAB problem. Not all Arabs are Muslim, and 10% of Muslims are Arab.

If you check the prevalence of spousal abuse in a place like Syria, you’ll see that Muslims are no better or worse than Christians or Druze. FGM is actually more common among non-Muslims than Muslims in most African countries. The list goes on.

Stop blaming all Muslim and a religion for what is clearly a cultural problem.

SulaymanF ,

I did and you seem unwilling to acknowledge its flaws. I can’t help you.

SulaymanF ,

He also meant when he said Palestinian deaths were unacceptable but then he let 20,000 extra ones die before making the ultimatum to Netanyahu that his advisors and supporters asked him to do 5 months ago.

He also said “30,000 Palestinians are dead, we cannot let it be 60,000” but watch by the end of the summer when Famine sets in and Joe has nothing but disapproving press releases.

SulaymanF ,

That’s being intentionally misleading. Biden bypassed Congress twice to give Israel more weapons. That’s not something he was obligated to do, and proof he is NOT “bound by the will of Congress.”

As Bernie Sanders and other senators have pointed out, US law says arms transfers must stop if we have a credible concern the weapons are used for war crimes or if the receiving country is actively blocking US aid. Both of those things are happening but Biden is claiming he hasn’t seen any of this so he won’t enforce the actual laws and treaties on the books.

Biden’s hands are not tied like you’re pretending they are.

SulaymanF ,

it is uncharitable of you to say that I'm being dishonest

Because you insist that Biden is not the one ordering weapons shipments and that he is bound by law to do so, and when I give evidence that the law says otherwise you say “yes I am aware.”

And yes, Biden bypassed Congress twice in December and then approved another last month. He doesn’t even do that for Ukraine.

The honest thing to do would be to acknowledge the mistake and withdraw your claim.

SulaymanF ,

Israel is talking about retaliating.

Basically it’s like they want to have the last word.

SulaymanF ,

There’s 7 year olds on military bases? Or is that an Israeli “human shield” since the Israeli bases are literally in residential areas? (And according to Israel that makes them fair targets)

SulaymanF ,

The App Store page says it but the app hasn’t asked me for it when I opened the app.

SulaymanF ,

That was Apple’s fear.

But this app has no ROMs and the search page only takes you to a public domain homebrew ROM page. You can add and run your own ROMs but they don’t even mention it for fear of crossing Apple or Nintendo.

SulaymanF ,

They gave on some points back in November, and Israel broke the ceasefire and killed unarmed Palestinians. They don’t trust Israel to uphold their end once again.

SulaymanF ,

Israel forcibly dragged Palestinians out of their homes and took them to unknown locations. Arrested versus abducted is a distinction without a difference.

Israel isn’t rehabilitating anyone in West Bank or Gaza, they are keeping them in cramped rooms with no access to lawyers or families and are held months without charges.

Your comment just doesn’t reflect reality. Ben-Gvir invited reporters to see prisoners and bragged that he’s intentionally starving them in captivity as revenge for hostages.

Hospitals suing patients over unpaid bills would have to put their names on lawsuits under new Colorado measure ( coloradosun.com )

UCHealth officials told The Sun and 9News that the health system sued more than 15,000 patients between 2019 and 2023 over debts. Since 2000, almost none of the cases has listed UCHealth as a plaintiff....

SulaymanF ,

I’m sure they’d love the PR and media coverage over these lawsuits.

SulaymanF , (edited )

WHY is the US getting involved?

Israel is the one that broke international law and BOMBED an embassy, killing noncombatants.

To borrow a quote from Biden and Netanyahu, Iran has the right to defend itself. Why would the US stand in the way of that?

Edit: fixed the name of the country

SulaymanF ,

Whoops! Let me fix that, Thanks

SulaymanF ,

Iran has the right to defend itself. Israel bombed their embassy and killed civilians; don’t Biden and Netanyahu repeatedly say for years that a country has the right to respond when attacked and their civilians are killed?

SulaymanF ,

I’m not defending the attack on the embassy

And yet you are.

International law says embassies are sacrosanct. Even if there was commander and generals in there, you cannot attack first and argue self defense without a credible threat of “imminent” danger. Israel had none and has not even argued for this claim. We went over this when the US illegally assassinated Suleimani.

SulaymanF ,

Yes but the reason they acted out this week rather than before is because Biden publicly announced criticisms of Israel and threatened to condition aid. You cannot ignore the context.

SulaymanF ,

That’s not what you said, you said Israel could claim justification for bombing an embassy because enemies were in it. Then you made a vague comment about how long the conflict is, as if that excuses it. If that is true, then all israeli embassies are fair game because Mosaad is in them and US embassies as well since they openly have CIA officers in them.

Firing missiles into a country to blow up an embassy of another country is a “first” no matter what justification you or Israel can come up with.

SulaymanF ,

So the guy with a week old account is condescending. I’m pretty sure I’ve read and taught more history than you. Peace.

Iran launches drone attack against Israel as Biden rushes to White House ( www.theguardian.com )

Iran said it launched dozens of drones and ballistic missiles towards Israel on Saturday in a major attack following days of acute tension building up in the region and warnings from the US and elsewhere about a wider conflict erupting....

SulaymanF , (edited )

Meanwhile Israel funds and arms terrorist groups in Iran like the Mojahiden-e-khalq or Al-Nusra in Syria, in addition to their cyber attacks on Iran and assassinations of Iranian scientists.

SulaymanF ,

Of course Saudi tries to blame their enemy Qatar. That was more of an accusation than any solid proof, at which point the CIA likely helped them to since they were toppling Assad.

Meanwhile according to Wikipedia:

There were cases of al-Nusra combatants receiving medical aid in Israel and returning to fight. Former head of Mossad, Efraim Halevy, in an interview for al-Jazeera implicitly confirmed that such practices had taken place

Iran's Revolutionary Guard seizes a container ship near Strait of Hormuz amid tensions with West ( apnews.com )

Commandos from Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard rappelled down from a helicopter onto an Israeli-affiliated container ship near the Strait of Hormuz and seized the vessel Saturday, the latest in a series of attacks between the two countries....

SulaymanF ,

Embassies are never a military target no matter who is in them. If you’re going to call generals terrorists then it means it’s fair game for Iran to assassinate US generals. And Israel opened the can of worms, countries could bomb US embassies because the CIA is known to operate in them.

SulaymanF ,

That’s all the media focused on but it wasn’t an empty embassy on a workday.
It’s like how the world media focused on the WCK workers killed in Gaza but ignored the Palestinian drivers who also were killed.

SulaymanF ,

Joe, to borrow your phrase that you’ve been using for the last 6 months, “Iran has the right to defend itself.”

Going back on this principle of yours makes you look pathetic and deeply hypocritical.

SulaymanF ,

False again. A few token Bedouins in the IDF does not whitewash the de facto and de jure discrimination, or the many laws on the books that relegate Arabs as second-class citizens. Even Netanyahu himself has said that Jewish citizens are superior to non-Jewish citizens and his 2018 Nation-State Law spells that out.

The Israeli military has a policy where Arabs can never be promoted to be Air Force pilots regardless of qualification or recommendations. It’s known as Glass Ceiling.

But since you have such trouble believing this, let me list a few laws:

The Citizenship and Entry Law (2003) bans family unification in Israel between Arab Israelis and their spouses from the Palestinian Territories, Iran, Syria, Lebanon or Iraq. In contrast, Jewish Israelis can bring their spouses over without issue.

The Benefits for Discharged Soldiers Law (2008) allows all institutions of higher education to consider military service – from which Arab Israelis are exempt for historical and political reasons –when determining applicants’ eligibility for financial assistance.

The Economic Efficiency Law (2009) gives the government sweeping discretion to designate “National Priority Areas” and to allocate vast resources for their development, which it does
so in a way that systematically excludes Arab communities.

The Admissions Committees Law (2011) allows hundreds of small towns built on state land to select applicants based on their “social suitability”. The law is used in practice to filter out
Arab Israelis and members of other marginalized groups.

The Nakba Law (2011) strips state funding from any public entity, including educational institutions, that commemorates the Nakba.

The Expulsion Law (2016) allows for the expulsion of Arab Knesset Members by their peers on ideological grounds, based on majority claims that they incite racism or support terror. That law is not used against Jewish Extremists like Ben-Gvir.

The Kaminitz Law (2017) increases enforcement and penalization of planning and building offenses. The law has a disparate impact on Arab Israelis, many of whom are forced to build
illegally due to decades of discrimination by the planning and building system.

The Jewish Nation-State Law (2018) guarantees the ethnic-religious character of Israel as exclusively Jewish, denies the right to self-determination of Arab Israelis, and entrenches the
privileges enjoyed by Jewish citizens, while simultaneously anchoring systemic inequality, discrimination and racism.

SulaymanF ,

That’s the most recent case that provoked this latest pogrom, but Settlers have been attacking Palestinian towns for years. The Israeli Supreme Court ruled that settlers don’t have to be punished equally as Palestinians for the same crimes.

SulaymanF ,

It’s not impossible but a popular theory in medical circles is that he was trying to steer transplants to patients that he thought would have a higher success rate. Surgeons are judged based on their patient outcome statistics and their bonuses are tied to it as well.
