Damn Verstappen's tyres are properly dead

In an interview he pretty much said that his intention was to stay ahead of the pack at all cost to protect Nico https://piped.video/ivslsT3TjK8

Synchronized track limit violations lmao

For the sake of consistency they probably shouldn't grant an exception, but I would prefer if this rule didn't exist at all. Let teams take risks with young drivers, it's not like the grid would be full of 17 year olds if there wasn't an age limit.

mf really said "LOL"

He had to put some real effort into that lap, so his brain thought it was an iRacing lobby.

Tesla Lays Off Entire Team Behind Brakes ( www.theonion.com )

AUSTIN, TX—In the latest round of layoffs for the company’s struggling automotive division, electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla fired the entire team behind brakes, sources confirmed Wednesday. “As we continue to rightsize the Tesla workforce, we have come to the decision that stopping the car is no longer a critical...

Until now I was under the impression that this was the goal of these notices:

If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.

Because if an LLM ingests a comment with a copyright notice like that, there's a chance it will start appending copyright notices to it's own responses, which could technically, legally, maybe make the AI model CC BY-NC-SA 4.0? A way to "poison" the dataset, so that OpenAI is obliged to distribute it's model under that license. Obviously there's no chance of that working, but it draws attention to AI companies breaking copyright law.

(also, I have no clue about copyrights)

What exactly is the rationale behind sending essentially a carbon tax paid by German citizens to the opposite end of the world? Other than potential for oversights and fraud, obviously. Instead of funding renewables in Germany, the money is used to "reduce CO2 emissions" during fossil fuel extraction, what the fuck?

hsr ,
@hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Thanks for the context. I still don't really trust the efforts to decarbonize oil, and I'd rather see it downsized or replaced (with e-fuels for example), than building new plants that are more efficient. Except we're so reliant on oil we can't just use less of it, so the options are limited.

I don't know enough about American politics to know how much it costs to pay off a rep, but Mario racked up over $100,000 worth of donations to Republicans, and his daughter-in-law, Jodi Peterson, about $30,000 to both parties.

Edit: Mario is at $144k according to www.fec.gov

But F1 is racing in the US, in theory there's a threat of Vegas, Miami or COTA cancelling their contracts.

"If Christianity is man made, why does everything about it go against man’s desires? Atheists can't answer this question" ...but they Can ( youtu.be )

If Christianity is man made, why does everything about it go against man’s desires? Does Christianity go against man’s desires? If so, is that evidence for Christianity? I answer this question, discussing the history of Christianity, the cognitive science of religion, Buddhism, Jainism, Islam, and more....

@hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

For every apologist that goes:

If Christianity is a man made religion then why does it go against man's desires?

There is another that says:

God wrote his morality into our hearts, and since some biblical commandments align with our morality, that means the Bible is true

Make up your minds, folks.

Correct, according to Erik van Haren he's stepping away from F1 immediately and will be free to leave Red Bull altogether at the beginning of 2025, which is when teams will start developing their 2026 cars.

hsr ,
@hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

End of an era, whether he retires or moves.

Remember that teams will only be allowed to work on their 2026 car from the start of 2025 and new regulations aren't even finalized. Red Bull will be developing the aero without Newey, and are working on the new engine without Honda. Some exciting times coming, hopefully.

hsr ,
@hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

No, you can't stop engineers from testing aero in their heads, but I would imagine teams are required to keep logs and documentation of development work/wind tunnel time/computer simulations for FIA to inspect at any time. It's nothing new either, each team has a wind tunnel time and CFD allocation per season, and there's no development allowed over the summer break. I suppose in the end you have to trust that FIA is enforcing these rules properly, but you can never know for sure.

As far as terrible sponsors go HP's anti-consumer bullshit seems almost tolerable when compared to Big Oil, cancer sticks and the rest. Isn't the advertising industry simply lovely.

So if it turned out Saudi Arabia and UAE were using slave labor during oil extraction, we'd ban oil imports from there, right?
