"Invitation" is for formal events, like weddings, birthday parties, reunions, and corporate events.

"Invite" is for online meetings and calls.

@teacherbuknoy If we're to be technical about it, "invite" is just a colloquial term for "invitation," so either can be used in both examples.

Some, though, have a problem using "invite" as a noun, as they believe it's strictly a verb: https://www.merriam-webster.com/grammar/can-you-use-invite-as-a-noun

("Invite" is used in one journal example that goes as far back as the 1800s, when online meetings and calls still didn't exist.)

A white man got angry because there weren't any seats in a Starbucks coffee shop in Baguio, Philippines.

@pixiecata @jikodesu While I have qualms about people overstaying at cafes and buying only one item from the menu (revenue loss and space hoarding), this is an example of a white person who thinks his own (coffee) culture is superior to others' and, therefore, should be the standard. SMH.

Watched CNA's "Streets Made for Talking" last night, featuring Telok Ayer. I especially liked the episode hosted by artist Dawn Ang (a.k.a. Aeropalmics).

"Streets Made for Talking" is a short docuseries featuring various neighborhoods in Singapore and their history, stories, and microculture. I wish one of the big media outlets here in the PH has something like that. We'd never run out of stories to tell considering the numerous interesting neighborhoods we have!

Notable dinner this long weekend: Key Coffee's crab ikura udon (left), which tastes a tad similar to palabok, with chewy and delicious handmade udon in crab fat sauce that isn't cloying; and Silantro's beef nachos and lucha tacos (right), which I haven't had in a long time (the branch near our place is always crowded, and the floors are sticky, haha!).

On a wooden table are plates of nachos topped with cheese and beef chunks, soft tacos with meat and a generous helping of shredded lettuce, a glass of citrus juice with a metal straw, and a huge burrito wrapped in foil

Two books that made me sob: The Art of Racing in the Rain and this one.

So beautifully written but also so painful to read. There are parts where I had to choke back tears. Make sure you have a pack of tissue on hand (and don't skip the author's notes at the end.)

Once upon a time in Kabayan, Benguet, where we had a shoot that featured gipah tea, an herbal tonic that is said to treat a number of ailments.

It was one of the more memorable shoots that brought me out of my comfort zone.

@cendawanita I mean, I can no longer interact with any of the accounts I follow on mastodon.art since it's been blocked by my instance (a 404 error message appears).

Re. Meta, I get the distrust about them entering the Fediverse. What I don't get is the need for some to convince everyone to do a preemptive block, practically shoving it down everyone's throat. I'd like to believe each of us have the critical faculties to decide that for ourselves.

@cendawanita I guess it all comes down to individual preferences as well. Looking at my feed, it's apparent that everyone has opposing takes on the matter. I, for one, am on the wait-and-see team. I gagged when I first heard the news about Meta joining, but I realized that I can always hit that block button when I feel the need to.

@cendawanita I'd like to believe that the nature of the Fediverse won't easily allow for Meta to scrape all users' data? Again, I'm still on a wait and see stance. Also, I don't want to be all gung-ho about preemptively blocking them when I still use some of their platforms; that would be hypocritical of me.

@cendawanita Ah, but if I were to consider the other reactions to my instance blocking .art, then I'm getting this impression that .art is being a bully (has been for quite some time), blocking and defedding every instance they don't agree with. If that's the case, then, like you said, it's just dumb.

@cendawanita I guess it all boils down to "Do I trust my instance admins to safeguard against any future/perceived infringement of Meta?" My answer is yes. When the time comes I feel that is no longer true, then I can decide for myself what my next move will be.

Right now, all I want is to just get on with my real life and finish a deadline. Hahaha!
