Spotify’s long-rumored high-res music tier looks like it might be finally ready for launch, based on some pretty convincing leaked screengrabs.

The music streaming service has fallen behind a number of its big rivals in not offering lossless music, but so-called “Enhanced Listening” will look to change that, offering up to 24-bit/44.1kHz playback via Spotify Connect on compatible devices.

@9to5google has more on the expected feature and how it compares to the competition, but we want to hear what you think — is high-res sound quality important to you in a streaming service? Has Spotify done enough?

Z góry mówię - zawsze byłem prounijny, popierałem UE i wprowadzenie w Polsce Euro.

Nonsens! A, no i jeszcze robią dokładnie to samo co Apple, czyli pobierają prowizję od sprzedaży. No i oczywiście nie mają sideloadingu, ale to oczywiście jeszcze mogę wybaczyć (chociaż Apple’owi też mogłem…). Antykonsumenckie praktyki! Za to uwielbiam () - nie stosuje ich w !

inne uslugi sa i jakby chcialy, moglyby byc znane i mocne - tutaj raczej winy szukal bym w slabosci konkurencji niz w samym Spotify - sam ostatnio zmienilem Spotify na Amazon Music, natomiast testowalem w przeszlosci rozne uslugi - Apple Music, Deezer i byla jeszcze jakas...

When Spotify entered the podcast world, audio producer Alex Sujong Laughlin was wary — and with good reason, since back when she was a social media editor working at The Washington Post, she saw the devastating effect some private tech companies have had on media and journalism. She's sad to be proved right. "Spotify — along with many other companies — wants to create a closed ecosystem for the creation, distribution, and consumption of podcasts, bypassing RSS technology altogether because that would allow them to harvest more listener data to leverage with advertisers," she writes in this story for Defector. Luckily, she says it's not too late to take back our feeds. "You don’t have to understand the technology of RSS to choose to listen to your podcasts on an open app. You can just choose to do it." I have no idea where all this is going. @suzystarlite and I spend a lot of time getting tempos and grooves just right. We are the artists and it’s our work. It shouldn’t be modified without our express permission… FediArt https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/spotify-plans-to-let-subscribers-speed-up-songs-and-pay-rightsholders-when-those-modified-tracks-are-streamed-report/

Spotify is trialling AI-powered playlists for some users in the UK and Australia.

As @Mashable reports, "select users can use AI to help create personalized playlists based on niche prompts — even simply using emoji."

Yet ANOTHER reason not to use Spotify. (How many do you need?)

Demonetization of lesser performing songs so they don't have to pay artists the already miniscule amount they barely do? Check.
