Vice Ganda’s entry, captioned "Lagi kitang pipiliin, Pilipinas," that has got the internet abuzz, has gained 4 million views in just 16 hours since posting Saturday night.

One scene takes Vice "to the disputed West Philippine Sea, where she takes on a Chinese vessel's water cannon—a reference to China’s recent worrisome incursions."

Another unique(?) trope in land is this:

When a character is about to reveal something important, like their true identity, they will be interrupted with either:

  1. An emergency.
  2. They're summoned by someone higher.

^_^;;

You eventually get used to it, and expect it is going to happen.

I've been planning my first solo travel/workation this year and I can't decide where to go this August. La Union, Zambales, or Baler?

La Union is at the top of my list but since it's a workation and as an introvert, I won't be into parties and large crowds. I want a more peaceful vibe. I wonder which among those three is better for digital nomading?

Dear Filipino journalists, we don't care about yellow alerts and red alerts in the electricity grid. We don't give a shit about these terms.

We want to know if we're going to have blackouts. If so, where is it happening? And for how long?

Please do your job properly, instead of repeating what the government officials are saying.

From 2010 to 2017, there was a thing called that we Aseans started as a grassroots movement. We were all bloggers from across, well, or South-East Asia.

Some of us joined together to produce one of the best multi-authored regional blogs. We talked about our cultures, write about what makes the region awesome. As well as, try to address the oftentimes silly and sometimes heated debates.

It's all gone now. Forgotten. The blogs dead or offline. We all grew up, got busy with our personal lives, and moved on separately. And the important reason? We lost interest in it as we started to see ASEAN was, is, and will never be for the grassroots.

That was the end of what was once a vibrant grassroot ASEAN Citizens effort. We did it all voluntarily. Without a single recognition from the top-down organisation that is ASEAN.

I had friends from , , , , , , , , and yes, even from (). (I'm from the .) It was fun. It was not tiring at all. It was because we saw a bright future for ASEAN, and we believed in it completely.

But today? ASEAN is still a top-down organisation. They kept trying to get the grassroots involved, but they are always failing. Why? Because it is a top-down organisation, as simple as that. They will never understand until they shift their mindset and approach to bottom-up.

Who is ASEAN really for?

(P.S I want to restart this grassroots movement, but I just no longer have the spark. Give me a very good reason why I should give it another chance. Or, at least, guide the new generation.)

To everyone in the , especially foreigners and those planning to visit our beautiful country, make it a habit to:

Bring a liter of water at all times.

The heat index (or feels like) is now at 38°C (I don't know what it is in °F we don't use that). This is still, actually, cool for us locals.

In the coming weeks, and months, it might go up as high as 45°C, like it did in the last few years (even without ). 42°C – 45°C is what we locals consider very hot, and there are locals who collapses, or die, because of heat exhaustion. (Watch out for announcements of heat waves too.)

Now, if you're a foreigner who came from colder countries, you definitely are not accustomed to this weather. So, don't even dare assume "you can do it". Bring water with you at all times, especially if you have existing conditions.

Mineral water is highly recommended, preferably between pH8 and pH10 (alkaline levels). Distilled/purified water are below pH6 (acidic levels). Of course, if your doctor said you can not drink alkaline/mineral water, then don't. Especially people who can't process minerals.

If you do it right, you'll discover that @pilipinas

To security experts: Do you use for services that are already end-to-end encrypted? Or, you add their apps in split-tunnelling mode?

Or, to rephrase it: is there any usefulness in keeping end-to-end encrypted apps behind a VPN?

This is under the assumption that all things are equal (no ISP issues; no need to bypass any network set up; end-to-end encryption is enabled by default).

jikodesu ,
@jikodesu@mastodon.social avatar

@youronlyone

I'd also like to know the answer to your question. For example, should I exclude the Signal from the VPN (via Split Tunneling) since it is E2EE?

I use a VPN primarily to make it hard for government and the ISP to snoop, especially from identifying my IP address.
