So I've been grabbing a few shows I want to watch reruns of while playing Balatro that don't have good blu ray releases. My piracy is fairly limited these days so I don't bother with private trackers (do have a VPN though). In the past, I never really had an issue with grabbing a few one offs off the popular, maybe honeypot,...
I have also noticed some dips in brightness in some shows.
Sounds like an encoding problem, or some sort of form of copy protection in the streamed video that screws up the encoding algorithms, like the old Macrovision copy protection on VHS tapes.
I fell behind following this show, and my thoughts on episodes 4-7 are...
The CG characters continue to be really well done. The girls have a lot of personality in their body language, and the visual composition is really good, even if the POV is a little flat, and we don't get cartoony asides, like Bocchi turning into a worm, for example.
I especially enjoy watching best girl Subaru, the long dark haired drummer, the comic relief in the group, despite her serious acting training and hime/princess hairstyle which implies a wealthy background.
The music is carried by Nina, the MC's, stylish vocals, but for a story about a band, the mixing seems to almost mute the the instruments. At least in these episodes the producers seemed to get the mix of instruments correct to what is shown on screen. The audience seems strangely inaudible, which they shouldn't be in the tiny venues they're supposed to be playing in.
The story itself involves a lot of fears of abandonment. Nina, and two other girls were previously abandoned by bandmates. Momoka, who left a rising band on the verge of stardom, wants to give up music. Subaru wants to leave her famous actress grandmother's shadow: She's even named after her grandma's breakout role. But she's afraid to tell her grandma she wants to follow her own path.
Anyway, a lot of "I'm leaving the band!" announcements drive the drama
A nice series of fight sequences with D, disguised as Hibiki, engaging in simulated combat against low-level colored rangers as part of the entrance exam.
There's tension as D cannot risk getting hit by anything, or he'll be revealed as a Duster.
It's a fun, tense battle, while we're wondering about D's plan to beat these guys.
Mu-chan and the yokai talk seriously about mortality and the differing lifespans. It's implied that Jiro was in love with Mu-chan's great-grandmother.
Tear jerking story about Kazuhiko and his late wife Namiko, who happened to be descended from a banana tree spirit, a Basho No Sei hence her green eyes and hair.
Deitarabocchi - Giant spirit whose footprints make lakes and ponds - Said in the show to become Umibozu when the move out to sea??? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daidarabotchi
The drop in global fertility has fuck-all to do with glyphosate.
The article doesn't comment on linking fertility and glyphosate in sperm either way, but it's worth researching, if someone hasn't studied that already.
Episode one has great action scenes and great peaceful-family-life with foreshadowing introduction - in great production quality. To the point where I can point to that first episode as great examples of action and mood-setting life-like family life in anime....
The whole concept seemed half baked and rushed from the start, like they took one day to write the story and script and just decided to go with the first draft, instead of going back, editing, and developing the characters and story.
Even though you can tell there was a ton of money put into the production, the story just doesn't work.
Even the action gets silly towards the end, especially with the badly designed mech suits (open toes?, limited battery life?) and bad and offensive villain concepts like gay sex predator dwarf, black fade poser guy, and I couldn't watch anything past that.
The best part for me was the delivery guy fight in episode 2.
Maybe he's been working hard in making anime for so long, bless him, that he doesn't empathize with those who grew up playing MMORPGs, which is where that comes from.
Who knows, maybe in a few years we'll have light novels/manga/anime based on mobile gaming tropes to pander to those who grow up playing those.
I mean we have Blue Archive, Touken Ranbu Kan, Mahjong Kan, which are all mobile game adaptations this season already
But those are direct adaptations instead of exploiting some trope that's common in all mobile games, like "My Gacha Lootbox Ability Gives Me SSS Rare Girlfriends Every Time"
She's very capable, she thinks she knows everything, but quickly gets into trouble without help from others, and hasn't learned to get along with others yet.
The medieval people were on some weird shit, man. LSD is a famous thing that comes from moldy rye, but without refrigeration and science-based medicine, who knows what people were ingesting back then?
So we learn that the current "atmosphere" of the Shishitoren is definitely emanating from the top down, but the bullying middle school kids thing was more of a problem with certain individuals in the gang.
On the other hand, Shisitoren leader Choji, is made to be more of a psychotic than previously shown.
Sakura can take some hits. Geta stomps to the back of the head should be enough to KO just about anyone.
Been there, done that with the "it looks like a short easy walk the map" thing.
The whole effect from fuzzy memories was hilarious, from the fuzzy backgrounds because they weren't paying attention, to people who weren't there, to eating things they may or may not have eaten, to imagining bringing the dogs.
What kind of psycho injects dogs who weren't there into their hiking trip memories?!?
I wonder what she meant when one of the girls says that Chikuwa's voice sounds familiar? The VA who says that is probably the one doing the dog's voice too. Chikuwa's voice doesn't get mentioned in the credits.
I guess we'll have to find out what "syoy sauce" means next episode!
On to a new opponent! An ex-pro taekwondo fighter who just happens to be a sadistic bully in the same school as our characters.
This guy looks both nasty and dangerous, and Hobin is seriously out of his league.
I continue loving the writing in this show. There's always an element of doubt that Hobin can actually beat these opponents and get out of bad situations.
Of course we never see Bastion's body getting sucked into the black hole or getting ripped apart in the explosion, so he can conveniently re-appear sometime later.
Renewed thru S4?
Speed running through the X-Men storylines at the rate they are, I'll be surprised if they can keep this up before running out of material, and having to create their own original stories.

Even though there was a buffer zone under enemy surveillance and drone fire, there could have been more done to prepare defenses against Russian tactics, i.e. human wave meat assaults, and they could have been more forceful with those who didn't want minefields and other defensive placements on their farmland.
You'd think that some doctor would have noticed something odd about Kafka when they gave him X-rays to determine his bones were broken after the exam, unless kaiju powers of transformation are really that good.
Same goes, more or less, for Kaiju No. 9, masquerading as a cleaner.
Everything in the base is recorded, good thing they went off base to "Bonniys" to talk to Shinomiya to talk about his kaiju-ness.
"I play my bs, activating my bs, which gives me another turn, and I'm going to play more bs, which activates your bs trap, which I reflect back on you with my own bs trap, and I win!"
p.s. this is reflective of the Yu-Gi-Oh anime show, not the actual game.
I don't mean this to be an advertisement, but I have tried a few metal coffee filters, and have not been able to find one that works as well as one from a company called Ovalware. Its the only one I could find that lists a micron size for the inner mesh (40 μm). I've found that this draw down time is faster than a paper filter,...
