More than 40 years after 48 people died in a fire at Dublin's Stardust nightclub, a jury has delivered a verdict of unlawful killing. The inquest began last April after a years-long campaign by relatives of the victims. The jury found that materials used in the nightclub contributed to the spread of the fire on Feb. 14, 1981, and that the victims were unable to escape due to the factors like lack of visibility and locked or otherwise obstructed exits. The Irish Government will now consider the verdicts; Taoiseach Simon Harris referred to the fire as "one of the darkest moments in our history, a heart-breaking tragedy because of the lives that were lost, the families that were changed forever, and the long, drawn-out struggle for justice that followed." Here's more from RTE.
