F&F Entertainment recently announced that #UNIS will debut this coming March 27th.
It will be F&F Entertainment's first #Kpop#idol group and first girl group. F&F Entertainment is a subsidiary of the clothing brand, F&F.
The UNIS line-up is half-foreign, half-Korean: 2x Japanese; 3x Koreans; 1x half-Filipino/Korean; 2x Filipinos. They were from the #UniverseTicket talent search / survival show which concluded back in January.
This will also be the first time, as far as I know, that we will see a medium-to-dark brown member in the K-pop industry, which the judges, like #KimSeJeong, super liked.
The members have a 2½ years contract with the possibility of extending it. Currently, they are more popular abroad (outside #SouthKorea). Thus, it remains to be seen how they will fare in #Korea's K-pop idol scene; as that market is the primary basis for K-pop success (not foreign countries).
F&F Entertainment is also planning debut tours(?) in the #Philippines and #Japan, where 4 of their members (2x respectively) hails from.
I think their success abroad is already a given, thus, F&F Entertainment may want to plan on targeting foreign markets as Plan B if they happen to not get highly ranked in the South Korean market. For one, their planned date is in-between the debut of new groups (March) and the comebacks of powerhouses (April).

But it was not her show and not her story. She's as good as a support role only, or for comedic purposes.
If you haven't watched this, you'll in for a serious #drama, bordering #melodrama. It was an adaptation of a Korean #manhwa by Cheon Kye Young (천계영).
Good story, good #TV series. The format and flow is just something I'm not used to: full on comedy, and halfway through, a sudden switch to melodrama and mystery. It was like they tried to mix various methods in storytelling and genres.
If you only want to watch because of IU, there are other better shows, like #HotelDelLuna (#호텔델루나) which was made for her. (With a bonus “fashion show” at that, rivalling #LucyLiu's fashion in #Elementary.)
K-pop first hit the Billboard charts back in 2009. In 2023 alone, five different K-pop albums took the top spot on the Billboard 200, and Jimin of BTS became the first South Korean solo artist to hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 singles chart. Ahead of the launch of Billboard Korea, the team has ranked the top 100 K-pop artists of the last year.
If you have not heard of them yet, they were formed on 2024-01-17 out of the talent search survival show #UniverseTicket. There are 8 members from three countries:
Taylor Swift accounted for one in 78 of U.S. on-demand music streams according to a new report, which says that Afrobeats, K-pop and Latin music are the fastest growing genres in the United States, where hip-hop remains the biggest streaming genre. Here's more from @pitchfork
Due to all the end of year posts I was doing last week, I forgot about the K-Pop weekly and monthly posts. I have remedied that, and they are now live on my site.
I listen to a lot of K-Pop and sometimes watch music videos, sometimes don't. I'm...well, old. I don't collect photos, physical releases, etc. While seeing the performances are fun from time to time, they're minor to me compared to just hearing the music itself!
MDMRN Twin 1: Are they supposed to be fighting people?
MDMRNia: What's the word for after the world ends?
Me: Post-apocalyptic?
MDMRNia: Yea, that. This video is like that.
MDMRN Twin 2: Hey - those are just some basic dance moves.
Me: Oh, so you think you can follow along?
MT2: Totally
MT2: Proceeds to not follow along at all and have to start over at the end of the video
