Speaking as someone who used to hand-whittle SVGs with a text editor: this is brilliant. https://www.nan.fyi/svg-paths

I wrote a bit about my latest project, a WordPress plugin for embedding fediverse posts, the motivation behind creating it, and some of the challenges.

I’m so excited to publish my new :
https://sidney.me/?ref=Mastodon

I’ve spent the last few months crafting my own home on the Web, and I wanted to make sure it presented me as a human, not defined solely by my work as a / .

This has also been a great opportunity to finally use & in a project. I love how easy it was to learn and how intuitive it is, as someone who started with vanilla HTML and CSS

Anyone have an interesting blog that uses the WordPress ActivityPub plugin?

If so, please leave a link/handle as a reply to this post.

(And even if you don't, please boost this thread on so it can reach people who do.)

A guide to getting started with the ActivityPub spec.

On my “to do: one day” list, for when I finally get motivated to improve the comment syncing on the WordPress plugin . . .

Want to learn HTML but don’t know where to start? Good news! Here you go.

Back in high school, circa 1998/99, I knew a guy — we weren’t exactly friends at the time, but we were certainly about to be — who ran a Sailor Moon fanpage on Geocities. I don’t remember how I found this out about him, only that the discovery, literally, changed my life. I’d been On the Internet for a few years by that stage, and had a few favourite sites I would visit over and over, but how the whole thing worked was a mystery to me. And yet, here was A Guy would could tell me! A Guy with an Actual Webpage! Who could possibly . . . teach me? To make . . . my own?

The next day, he brought me in a floppy disk with one file on it; it was a .hlp file, which opened up a tutorial on how to write HTML. I spent all evening working through it — a little shrine to my own OCs — and uploaded the results to my very own Geocities page.

And that was the start of it . . .

Cute tool for generating custom-defined webfont fallbacks, to reduce that thing where the layout shifts around as the “real” site fonts are loaded in.

ON why your website should work without JavaScript.

See also: why I will; absolutely bounce off your Wix/Squarespace/Tumblr/whatever website when all it gives me is the “you must enable third-party JavaScript” spinner . . .

A very elegant way to have pure-CSS expandable trees, using lists, but also summary and details tags:

I'm all for lazy loading images, but not the JavaScript variety.

Good compression and srcset work just great without any JS overhead.
