I wrote a bit about my latest project, a WordPress plugin for embedding fediverse posts, the motivation behind creating it, and some of the challenges.
I’ve spent the last few months crafting my own home on the Web, and I wanted to make sure it presented me as a human, not defined solely by my work as a #DesignEngineer / #WebDev.
This has also been a great opportunity to finally use #Svelte & #SvelteKit in a project. I love how easy it was to learn and how intuitive it is, as someone who started with vanilla HTML and CSS
All roads lead to Mastodon - exciting to be here and finally try this out!
As for my #introduction: I'm a Belgian software developer & UX designer living in #Helsinki 🇫🇮. I work with my two Belgian colleagues on Welcome To My Garden, a #slowtravel platform 🚲. I'm into #webdev, #lowcode, #humanetech and #reading - I'm also the maintainer of the social reading app readup.org
Thanks @Chronotope for making me discover IndieWeb 👍
Want to learn HTML but don’t know where to start? Good news! Here you go.
Back in high school, circa 1998/99, I knew a guy — we weren’t exactly friends at the time, but we were certainly about to be — who ran a Sailor Moon fanpage on Geocities. I don’t remember how I found this out about him, only that the discovery, literally, changed my life. I’d been On the Internet for a few years by that stage, and had a few favourite sites I would visit over and over, but how the whole thing worked was a mystery to me. And yet, here was A Guy would could tell me! A Guy with an Actual Webpage! Who could possibly . . . teach me? To make . . . my own?
The next day, he brought me in a floppy disk with one file on it; it was a .hlp file, which opened up a tutorial on how to write HTML. I spent all evening working through it — a little shrine to my own OCs — and uploaded the results to my very own Geocities page.

Hey y'all. I'm an avid #crafter and #writer. I work in #webdev at a digital marketing agency. I live in the middle of nowhere and own #goats and #chickens, and am working on setting up a (very very) small goat #dairy even though there's no money to be made in dairying anymore.
My current #fandom is nothing, although I think I might jump back to working on my #Lucifer AUs as a stop gap. #AmWriting an original scifi OT3 horror novel.
