You don't have to stay in the first instance you registered on. In fact, it is advisable to find a different instance where you will feel at home and in agreement with their local community and policies.
While, yes, flagship servers (a.k.a. instances #fediverse software devs are handling themselves) are more likely to stay for the next 20 years or so, those are also often used as "test" servers. Not to mention, their time will be divided between developing their fediverse software and managing their flagship instance.
In other words, it is good that users spread out to different instances.
Today, I was at Bonifacio Global City (BGC), a lot of people took a photo of me, or with me, because of this anime headgear I always wear.
Only catch, I just finished running, so I was tired. 😅😅
But, yeah, it was a new experience.
UPDATE (2023-07-02): Thank you to adgaps@mastodon.online for identifying the character! It is #Kyuubey from “Magical Girl Madoka Magica” (“Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika” / #魔法少女まどかマギカ). All these years I thought it was Mokona from Magic Knight Rayearth, with some style the creator of the headgear addded.
You can follow the Kbin Magazine ‘test’ by searching and following: @test. You can also post into it by tagging it.
If you are already familiar with #Chirp and #Guppe groups, it works similarly. Follow it to get content, tag it to post content and share with everyone following the “group”/“community”/“magazine”.
Happy 125th Independence from Spain my beloved Nation, the Philippines!
(Which ironically, we're still using the name they gave us.)
For today's independence post, let's talk a bit about General Pío del Pilar.
The attached image is the KKK (Katipunan) flag used by General Pío del Pilar, the namesake of barangay Pio del Pilar, #Makati City.
His flag was called “Bandila ng Matagumpay” (en: “Flag of the Triumphants”) and was first used on July 11, 1895. (And his KKK faction was called “Matagumpay” (en: “Triumphants”)
Pío del Pilar was a force to reckoned with. He liberated , defended, and participated in many battles against the Spaniards. Some of these places we know today as Mandaluyong City, Las Piñas City, the Municipality of Pateros, Taguig, the province of Nueva Ecija, parts of Cavite province, and Calamba City (in the province of Laguna), to mention a few. (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C3%ADo_del_Pilar )
Fun facts:
General Pío del Pilar was born in Barrio Culi-culi, San Pedro de Macati.
Barrio Culi-culi is today's barangays Pio del Pilar and Bangkal.
While San Pedro de Macati is now Makati City.
His father was a farmer from Pasay City (one of the oldest cities in the country, and itself was a “kingdom” in pre-colonial times, named after Dayang-dayang (princess) Pasay, daughter of Rajah Sulayman of the “kingdom” of Maynila).
And his mother was an embroider from Mandaluyong City.
