2/ This snowshoeing trip marked a milestone for me—it was the first time that I have summited a mountain on snowshoes. It was only several years ago that I first hit the wintry mountain trails by snowshoe. Going solo and without formal instruction, I proceeded extremely cautiously, doing many repetitions on easier, moderate-slope trails and only going relatively short distances, turning around well before a summit. New instance, new #introduction. I started on mastodon, but moved over to calckey for the extra features. Not wanting to be on one of the giant instances, I went for smaller, but had the bad luck of picking ones that shit down. So a few migrations later, I'm relocating here now.
At any rate, I'm just a guy in the #PNW that likes going on adventures and #travel, #hiking, and #backpacking. I'm also into #Board Games and #ttrpg, specifically #Pathfinder2e / #pf2e. While I've used #linux off and on for the last couple of decades, I recently switched to #PopOS and made that my daily driver. Online, I try to keep up on #privacy and local/national #politics without being overwhelmed or depressed... which is not easy to do.
I've got a black #cat named Nef, and sometimes find time for #baking and #knitting, though not as much anymore.
I’m filling in a little missing section of the Pacific Crest Trail between Lolo Pass and somewhere north of Lost Lake near Mount Hood this weekend. Will be exploring the area around the lake after completing the section Saturday morning. I saw my now good friend Prospector again, who’s hiking SOBO (south bound) on the PCT. Had met him weeks ago in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.
The first photo is the view from near my camp on Cloudy Pass. Today has been incredible but tough. Hiked 20 miles with 6400’ elevation gain. This is not like the PCT, it’s rough trails that go straight up for hours. But i’m so happy, I wanted an epic long weekend and Glacier Peak Wilderness is providing that in spades so far.
