Hello all! I read a piece indicating there's an audience for political rants, and I do have a distinct take on that stuff. In my first post, I talk about the way the spook agencies shape the narrative by controlling the entertainment. Richard Pryor and Bill Hicks got induced cancer, Eddie Murphy had to stop being smart in public, and Bill Cosby got a voice because he validated white racism.
I'd like to wish #SirTerryPratchett a very happy birthday. I'm guessing a lot of us would. My introduction to him was #TheBromeliadTrilogy, bought in a bookshop in Stratford-upon-Avon on our honeymoon. Thence to #Discworld and the others. I miss him terribly, even though (as he kindly pointed out) he's still here.
Into #ttrpgs since the mid-90s, mostly playing #osr-style #dnd, #callofcthulhu, #shadowrun, #dsa, #harnworld, but open to others.
I write (not as often as I want) and paint (even less), and post moody b/w photos on my pixelfed.
In IT and might talk about some obscure computer stuff.
@juergen_hubert In Wyrd Sisters (I think), a Discworld novel by Terry Pratchett, Nanny Ogg deals with that part of the problem by a more direct method. It's when Granny Weatherwax has to circle the kingdom in one night, or some such. I'm going to tag this #Pratchett, and #DiscWorld, so someone should be along within about 30 seconds to correct or confirm me..... #books
I just (re)read the first 10 pages or so of #TerryPrachett s Masquerade, brilliant. Had me laughing (and that's a miracle cause I was somewhere horrible). So I got home and bought the new audiobook of it and... Shiiit I didnt realise all the jokes that I missed even from the first few pages. It's so strange how reading is different to listening. Eg. I ain't deaf.... Sound like "I ain't ded" there are so many other tiny jokes. That Pratchett was a smart one! #discworld#amReading
Truth is that there is always some form of repression, or enforced conformity exercised by people with power over those under their control….because their way is the only way and anything else is intolerable. And to break out of this would entail a lot of pain and a whole lot of courage.
(from Mort by Terry Pratchett)
“‘I dearly wished I could change the past. Well, I can't, but I can change the present, so that when it becomes the past it will turn out to be a past worth having.'”
