Recent comment on my 'Blind guy drives a car' video:
'He drives better than some woman'
Yes, woman not women, but even so, what a shitty attitude to have...

Anyone ever managed to compile the Piper NVDA addon for Arm?

'Image with no description. Image with no description. Image with no description.'
The day I don't have to ever see that on my timeline again will be a fantastic day indeed. If can implement hiding boosts without I will likely take advantage.
Absolutely sick to death of the one main culprit posting 99.9% empty posts and images without alt-text, and people boosting them because they don't realise there's nothing to show for it.
Original poster probably posts 0.1% of original content, the rest is just pointless memes day in, day out, but they have a huge following, so their crap comes up time, and time again.

Yes, supports , but HCaptcha mines details of some of us with disabilities by asking us to sign up with an email address to, as they put it, 'get an accessibility cookie.' If you use that service, it is a bad time for many. HCaptcha is not my friend.

FreakyFwoof OP ,
@FreakyFwoof@universeodon.com avatar

Spam is bad, HCaptcha is just as bad. Please do not advocate for this evil, evil captcha solution. Please.

FreakyFwoof OP ,
@FreakyFwoof@universeodon.com avatar

@ujay68 @craftxbox It's evil, because only if you're blind or unable to complete the visual captcha, do they require your email address.
'Oh, let's be another corporation, but we're niche and specific. We only want email addresses of those who are blind/visually impaired, so we could, at our discretion, spam them with blindness-specific products or services that our visual users would never see, as they never had to provide an email address.'
When you go to the chemist (drug store or whatever it's called today) to buy, oh I dono, tampons, do you have to give them your email address because you're a woman?
Nope. Very, very definitely nope, but because I'm blind, I have to give some nameless, faceless company my address, to have a cookie that hardly ever works anyway at the best of times, and even when it does, is now tracking me across any site with their version of so-called captcha?
No. Absolutely not. Get the hell out with that.

There's some alert about privacy that comes up whenever I go over certain emails in , and as I'm using it today for the first time, I'd be grateful for any help getting rid of the thing. I hear about 0.005 seconds of what the email actually is before alerts me to... Whatever that is. Irritating doesn't begin to cover it.

@thunderbird Aah wow, I didn't expect anyone from the team to be here, and with help from the community I solved it by checking the box in preferences, but I don't know that that's necessarily the best way there is. For now though, it works. Thank you for responding, I'm grateful.

FreakyFwoof OP ,

@thunderbird Wishlist request, but could we have a key to go to inbox, and one to bring up the move folder dialog? In #$$^% windows mail, you could do CTRL+Shift+V to bring up move email to a specific folder, and CTRL+Shift+I to go direct to inbox.
I've taught myself that Alt GOFI goes to inbox directly, but that's longer than a shortcut.
(GOFI = Go >Folders >Favourites >Inbox)
I just like the word GOFI to be honest lol

There is an ongoing spam attack on the fediverse for the last couple of days. It's more widespread than before, as attackers are targeting smaller servers to create accounts. Before, usually only mastodon.social was targeted and our team could take care of it. For server administrators out there: If you don't need open registrations, switch over to approval mode. If you do, blocking disposable e-mail providers is a massive stopgap to the problem. Mastodon also supports hCaptcha.

@Gargron is a barrier for many blind/visually impaired users, for some of the reasons outlined in my recent post here: https://universeodon.com/@FreakyFwoof/111954929582025753

So there's been some media stuff about Tesla chargers going down or getting long lines in this extreme cold we're having.

The factors there are complicated and mostly this is impacting people without charging at-home. As it happens, I'm now making a daily commute - just started in fact! And I'd like to report that my car is having no issues at all in this weather, and I haven't even plugged it in to charge in a few days.

@TechConnectify I could never get the hang of GitHub. I'm not a programmer, why should I have to use it to file an issue with something I use? An email, a standard web- form, anything other than 'bugtrack this' and 'gitpull that', count me in. I don't want to play with 'your assets' or 'download your code' I just... Want to file a problem. Like an enduser should be able to. I'm a musician, not a programmer. Why must I be one to file a problem with something I use?

    My daughter's school is retrofitting a lift into the building. It's very difficult work and it's probably going to be ugly as a result. This is what happens when you later try to build into your product after it's been built and is in the wild. Don't do it this way if you can help it. Accessibility isn't just for Christmas, it should be forever. From day 0.
    Add the lift to your building from the start. Add accessibility to your product from the start. Do this, and your bolt-on actions won't come back to bite you at a later date, nor will they likely be ugly as sin.
